the hotcam doesnt like much more that 36*. i ran mine at 36* and it ran faster that at 34*. but ever car is different. what advance is programmed in the chip? i would rather keep my base a 6* and change the wot timing in the chip then do global changes with the distributor.

I'm waiting for a scan, being here in Hawaii it's not readyly avaliable to us out here as far as chip tuning, I have a TPIS chip right now for the mods I had before the cam install a few day's ago, my car seems to run way better with the timing is set at 8* top (crank) then @ 6*, seem normal to you and/or is this one of those case's were each car is different? I ca't set it @ totel timing cause I have the old fashin timing light, so I can't set it like the new ones.
Thanks for your help.

Kalani.

tpis will normally put 29-30* of timing at wot with the hotcam. so at 8* base your around 38*. different engines will like more or less timing based a lot on your combustion chamber efficiency and comp ratio. the more efficent the less timing the motor will like. but you really need to get to a dyno and see how much the timing is effecting your hp. call tpis and see exactly what they set the wot timing at and then go to a dyno and set base at 4* and for each run go up 1* and see what your car likes best. just because it "feels" strong doesnt nesseccarily mean its making more power.

Does not the 29-30* of timing at wot include the 6* base timing?
If you look at a LT1 timing tabel in tunercat it has 31* of WOT timing, and tuner cats SA tabel already inlucde base timing.
