Default What about the snap-on MT2500?

What do the experts here think?

This is what the mechanic hooks up to my '94 whenever anything comes up. Looks like somewhere between $300-$500 on ebay, depending on cables and cartriges that come with it. The other bonus is that it'll work with my other 2 cars ('02 chevy and '04 chrysler).

It'll cost you about $600 for the ODBII cartridges & cables if it doesn't come with them. The scanner itself isn't too expensive, the software is. The only thing I wish it did was graphing, but you can sometimes find the old PC software and cable that you can use to hook it up to a PC and graph with.

Actually, Snapon does make the MT2500G I think thats the model. It does graphing, but the scanner is like $2000. As for the scanners you see on ebay, they might have an old prom program on them. You have to check the versions. The old versions are cheap, but for an updated one, you could be looking at like $1000. Usually the scanners on ebay come with software too if someone is selling the whole setup. Also, the cheap ones on ebay are also remanufactured, not new. I am looking for one myself, so I know. Good luck!!

I'll ask my dad if he has any used scanners for sale right now, he's a Snapon dealer.

after using both an MT2500 and a laptop to do diagnostics, I would never go back to using a handheld scanner. Too much work to look at different parameter.

Laptop, cable, and software cost me ~$400
