Default Where can I get an .ecu

Just download WinBin and stock bin file for 89.

Where can I get an ecu file for the 1227165 ecm with a 6e mask ?

Is there a better program than winbin to poke around the bin file?

I use tunerpro. Its free also and has the 6E ecu included. Check thirdgen.org for a link, look under DIY-Prom section.

thanks I got, but as stated there may be variances in the accuracy of these files.

Have you had any issues using this one ?? Anyway to determine if this one is correct??

What files?? your bin or the TunerPro? Tunerpro is from a reputable source, bins are available everywhere, there are a few links on this site. Download a few and compare them using the "compare" feature and you will see differences/discrepancies. Hust make sure its a 6E bin, or it definately wont look right when you open it.

The ecu template file. I figure most of the bins people post are modified but the template file should be untouched. According to tunerpro's site using a modified one can have some negative effects -

From the site

The ECU file format is a public-domain format. As a result, there are few assurances to the accuracy of ECU files that can be found in various places on the web, etc. It should be understood that in some cases you can do hard to your engine if you tune using an inaccurate ECU file. I have made every effort to validate the accuracy of the $6E ecu file in the "supported by author" list. The others are to be used at your own risk.
