Default stacking bins question

I am using a 165 ECM and a 6E bin, that should be 16k. Now I understand that the factory prom is a 128. I read somewhere that I need to double the bin or program it to the last half for it to work for a 27C256. I doubled it, and burned it. I forget the software I used to double it, but then I tried the bin stacker in tunerpro. I selected 16k as file size, 256 as chip size and 16k as the block size and it gives me 16 spaces to fill with bin files! I know the math adds up to 256k, but I figured it was an apples to oranges thing since the factory bin is 16k on a 128 chip. Can someone set me straight??

thanks, but I'm not using dos, Im in windows. I gather from your answer that there is in fact two 16k files per 256 chip?

The 256 chip holds 256k bits of information. 1 byte = 8 bits.

Your bin is 16k bytes so the 256 chip holds two 16k bins (16x2x8=256)

In Tunerpro, set the bin size to 16k and chip size to 32k (32x8=256) and it will work.
