Just for kicks I decided to check these settings per both my service manual & the forum techs.
Anyway, IAC was fine, the plug was still in the adjuster screw hole & it was right at 450.
So, check TPS & its at .66 at base & goes up smoothly to about 4.7 by my volt meter. However, it doesn't appear that mine is adjustable. I didn't pull the screws but I can tell from the shape of the plastic that there is not room for a slot.
Anyone with experience on my year please chime in.
The 1990 and 1991 L98 TPS (which have a "Speed Density system vs. the Mass Air Flow system and adjustable TPS of the earlier engines) voltage is compensated for by the computer. There is no need to adjust the TPS.
Normal voltage at idle (Upper Radiator hose hot/closed throttle/Park or Neutral/closed loop/Acc. off) is .36 to .96 volts.
On the subject of scan/tune. Next thing I'd like to do is check if my non-heated O2 is working properly. I was thinking Moates software & my laptop... but I need to come up w/ a cable.
What is a recommended source or should I just try & build one?
I built my interface cable that works fine from a kit provided by AKM Cables. Andy can provide ready made cables also-just a bit more expensive but guaranteed to work.
