Default Ostrich 2.0 parts list

Im ready to start tuning my 93 and wanted to quickly ask if I need anything other the ostrich 2.0 plus the ALDU1 and CABL1 from moates. the older ham tech is new to me, I am more familiar with hpt and ls1 stuff but wont let that hold me back from learning something new!

Both do emulation so you buy one or the other ; not both

Datalogging only requires the cable
http://www.aldlcable.com/ ( and free software )

If you are hardcore you use only the Ostrich to store the tune and leave it in the car permanently instead of burning a new chip
each time which is what the ALDU1 also does.

Simply plug in your laptop , revise and upload the tune to the Ostrich and drive off
Your choice

What's the difference between the Ostrich and the ALDU1? I thought the ALDU1 was for datalogging and could only flash the 94's. I'm confused, as usual.

Ostrich is just a PROM emulator. It "looks" like a PROM but doesn't need to be removed and burned -- you just "upload" to it when you want or in real time.

ALDU1 I don't really know about but I think it is a burner and does some other things too.

ALDU1 can read your chip, erase an EEPROM, burn an EEPROM, emulate a chip (temporarily for tuning). Ostrich can only emulate, but you'll need the adapter.
I went with the Ostrich because I didn't like the idea of having to yank the computer apart every time i wanted to change the tune. Been rock solid for over a year now. I also bought a chip reader to read my existing EEPROM to use a starting point. If you're interested I'll make a good deal on it. I have all Moates equipment, the chip reader/burner was only used once!

ALDU1 Is for data logging and code clearing, but does not burn the PROM
BURN2 is the for burning the PROM.
