Tuner pro instruction are very difficult to figure out (at least for me) here is a link that simply explains the basics; http://ltxtech.com/forums/showthread...RT-V5-Tutorial
good luck, it's a steep learning curve.

After you download and install the Tunerpro program
http://www.tunerpro.net/download/Set...ProRT_v414.exe

you need to download the two $32 files available here
http://www.tunerpro.net/downloadBinDefs.htm
in order for the program to work for your car

Go to this link: http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Inj...hlight=1227165

1. Download the $32.ads from post 2;

2. You already have the $32.xdf which is also in post 2 above;

3. Download your choice of .bin files from post 3 depending on how your car was equipped from the factory.

Now.............in T/Pv5, load the ADS into: acquisition>import definition>from ADS (this converts it automatically into an ADX file (which is used by T/Pv5).

Next........... load the XDF into the XDF folder.

Finally...........load your selected .bin into: file>open bin folder.

You should be good to go at this point........congrats, let the fun begin!

Update: I should've read this whole thread before replying. It looks like you may have downloaded T/Pv4 based on vetteoz' link in post 4 above. If so, there will be a slightly different procedure loading & using the $32.ads file. If that's the case, post up & I or someone else can direct you step by step.........it's a bit more complicated. The XDF & BIN info is still the same though.

The ECM in your car is a 1227165, so the 1227730_8D.ads file is probably the wrong one. The firmware in my car is BUA. I don't think they used any other firmware for 1986.

The ECM outputs a stream of numbers. The definition file is used to determine what they mean. The first number might be RPM, the second MPH, etc. The order and the type of numbers changes from year to year.

Please explain the .ADS & .XDF stuff.
Is that so the software knows what car it's communicating with?

I have the 165 ECM.

Think as them as translators that lets the one program read data from many different ECM's
You must have the correct files installed for your particular ECM

There should be a school for this!
I'm looking at a BIN, and the amount of information in there is staggering.

Download TTS Datamaster, much easier to set up than tunerpro. Buy an ALDL cable and your all set.
