Default I know you guys hate this, But only way to lurn is ask.

Ive been doing some reading about PC based tuning. everything from HPtuners to tunercat. But im still lost on a few things. Im sure a few of them are common asked questions, but after searching the forum I have more questions then answers. and it seems as if I was chasing my own tail. so here go's!

1: My car is a 94, what tuner should I use lt1 edit?

2: What type of cable do I need for a 94? and where can I buy it?

3: Are they any free programs out thier to do tuning. or code reading.

4: My OBD plug *looks* like a normal OBDII plug, can I swap my PCM with a 96 obdII ? witch one would be better 94 or ODBII?

5: Are they a program that can be used multiple times? I want a program I can play with, I dont want to buy something like HPtuners where it cost money each and every car.

I dont plan to tune my car now. I plan to play around and lurn. I have an interest in pcm tuning, I know I have alot to lurn before I even deside to tune my car. that is why I want to start now.

Thanks for your time!
BTW: the links no longer work in the "sticky" for the 94-95

Tunercat is your best buy for the tuning software, and can be used on multiple cars. An AKM cable for the connection, and Datamaster for the data logging software.

TunerProRT will datalog '94 .You will need 3rd party software if you want to upload (flash ) a new tune to the PCM

No .Yours has a OBDII 16 pin plug but is still OBDI
OBDII has different /more sensors; some with '96 OBDII change back to OBDI for ease of tuning
