Default 1994 LT1 - which pin is data in the ALDL?

1994 LT1
6sp

Hello All,

I have a few ALDL cables floating around. I have not used any of them on the Vette yet. I most often use my OBD I cable that I got from Moates.net. It is a great cable and works flawlessly - but it has the older OBD I connector (I use it on my 91 Grand Prix).

As far as I know my 91 Grand Prix and my 94 Vette both use an 8192 baud rate for the data line - the connectors are just different. The Vette connector has the 'D' shape - I'd like to try my moates cable by using a piece of wire to cable the dataline on the cable to the dataline on the aldl connector. From what I read in the FAQ thread and on Google it indicates that the data pin on the Vettes connector is the bottom left (when looking at it). There is no pin in this spot though.

So, my question is, with regard to my 94 Vette which pin is the data? Do I need to jumper pins 12 and 4 as well?

If my existing moates cable can work that would be great and I would just invest in the right connector that I can interchange on the cable. Down the road I think I will get a cable that is capable of reflashing but right now I just want a diagnostic cable.

I'm not new to the diagnostics/tuning stuff - but I've only worked with 91-93 OBD I - the 94/95 stuff seems a bit different. I like the idea of reflashing through the cable though and not pulling memcals!

any help appreciated!
Thanks,
John

A closer look in better light revealed that there is in fact a pin in #9 (bottom left).

I'm going to give this a try and see what happens.

Pins 4 and 12 are used when using the on board testing using the dash. Pin 9 is correct for data (8192) which would go to your device. Obviously when using pin 9, 4 pins 4 & 12 are not connected.

You have chose wisely.
