"Corrupt BINs" msgs in TunerCat...
Does anyone know of a $6E BIN for an L98, 3.07 axle, manual transmission??? (Corvette)
I was hoping the ABTP was good; but TunerCat says the BIN I d/l'd from ftp://ftp.diy-efi.org/pub/gmecm/bins/ is either corrupt or a $32 BIN...But it won't open with $32...But when I try APTP 32.BIN, with $32 code, that same msg comes up again...WTF???
This is version 1.73, with v5.4 form library...

If you use an '89 bin in your '86, the 4+3 won't work correctly since the '89 used a 6-speed.

Isn't 6E the '89 tdf? For a 1986 car you should be using 32. If you use an '87-'88 bin, then use 32b.

What wouldn't work correctly???

Overdrive won't operate I think.
I can't remember who has run 89 code in an '86-'88 4+3 but it seems that the overdrive would not come on anymore.

...But it doesn't do me any good if I can't open the BIN anyway...I can't edit it if I can't open it...
Do you know what years used which code??? Like, $32 for 86 -?; $32b for ?; and $6E for whatever???

32 was for an 86. 32B was an 87 to 88. And 6E was an 89. It makes me think the file got corrupted on the download if tunercat can't open it-have you tried opening other bins with your new versions of tunercat? Otherwise someone may have changed the locations of some tables on that bin. ( Some tuners will do that as a form of copyright).

I also forgot, the '89 uses a different resistor network on the memcal, but I've heard people still put $6E code on a $32 memcal and it works fine.
If you have a stick, I think AUJP would be a good one to try. I have some '89 stock bins if you want me to email them to you.

Yes, please! I'd like to look at it and see if it looks anything like my '86 tables.
A friend of mine just emailed me that Netscape (I use 4.08) has corruption problems with unzipped BINs. I don't have MSIE on this machine (I use 98lite), but I do have WinXP/MSIE 6.0 on another HDD; I'll try downloading some BINs later with that and see if it works.
I thought it was strange that I could open & mod & save my own BINs (that I've read directly with Pocket Programmer/Craig Moates) but not downloaded BINs...

sent you two bins.
1988 4+3 and 1989 6-speed.
APYP is the 6-speed code I was thinking of.

Thanks, Craig! :)
...But no luck...I'm trying to install 1.73 on my laptop, see what that does...I didn't have any trouble with v1.61; this is the first time I've tried the 1.73 upgrade...
Still no good. v1.73 on my laptop exhibits the same screwed up behavior.
I'm going to uninstall both and go back to v1.61. :(

Re: "Corrupt BINs" msgs in TunerCat... (Rich B.)
TC from TunerCat just emailed me...The fix for my problem with both the $6E and $8D BINs/def files was to -
"Next go to the Tuner subdirectory using Windows
Explorer and delete the file names 'Catstuner.ini' and
then try running the program.
If you still get the strange display with the $6E
Definition Files, select 'Preferences' from the
'Options' menu and set the '# Columns in Drop-Down
List Column' to 99 and see if that takes care of the
problem."
I did still get the strange display problem, but increasing the # of columns did the trick!!! I can open/edit $32, $6E, and $8D BINs with v1.73 now...
...Even ones from ftp://ftp.diy-efi.org/pub/gmecm/bin_lib/1227165 32 32B 6E 94/ ...(Except for $32B BINs, which I don't know how to identify except by trial & error)...
So it would seem it's the default preferences which conflict with my settings and give the strange error msgs.
Thanks to all who responded! :D
