Default OBD 1 to OBD II connector

Anyone know where I can purchase an 12 to 16 pin connector? I have a GM Tech 1 analyzer with the OBD II cable that I need to connect to my 95 vettes OBD 1 port.

thanks

You will need to haunt E-bay until you get lucky, they do come up for sale on occasion, the adapter you need is P/N 3000053.
I use search terms GM Tech 1 and Vetronix as saved searches and get notifications when new items are listed, good luck.

to use it on your 95 you may have to have another box similar to a candi module for the tech 1 to work on the 95 and 96 cars. cant remember the name of it. (this is in addition to the obd 1 to 2 adapter)

The VIM or Vehicle Interface Module you are thinking of is only required on 96 C4's, that is the only year that is OBDII, the 95 is OBDI but has the 16 pin ALDL identical to the OBDII connector, all the OP needs is the 12 to 16 pin adapter for his Tech 1 to work.

Everything I have read leads me to agree with TopTechx6. I think the GM part number for the 12/16 pin adapter is 30000055 (or 53). Appreciate anyone letting me know if they come across one .... or the 1MB Mass Storage cartridge part number 3000003.

There may be another adapter that will work, seems like Vetronix made a lot of them, but the one I have is the 30000053 number, pics below to help identify.

I do not know the function of the switch, sorry.

As the 95 is a ODB-II Port and is still OBD-I, what happens when you use an OBD-II interface + cable (such as and ELM 327-based) with OBD software?

Does it work?

I have a 94 with the OBD2 connector also. A couple years ago I bought a Tech 1 but did not get the adaptor. I went on the Vetronix web site, found the piece and called Vetronix and ordered it. If I recall it was not cheap, about $70 and at that time there was a bit of a wait to receive it. (After spending a pile of money on the Tech1 how could I not buy the adaptor no matter what the cost.)

Have never seen one on Ebay, and only ever seen 1 adaptor included with a Tech 1 kit on Ebay in years.

I will see if I can find my original receipt and PM you any necessary information required to purchase it. Hopefully they will have some in stock.

pccolt94 is correct that some items are still available from Vetronix, now a division of Bosch, that one seems to still be available. Here is a link that should help.

http://www.boschdiagnostics.com/part...3100parts.aspx

I have actually had pretty good luck finding adapters, etc on E-bay and the prices are usually way cheaper, I have had to buy some items as part of a "lot" containing others not needed, but still usually comes out less money. Let me know if anyone needs an Isuzu adapter!

You guys know you're talking about two wires, right?

If you need to query stuff beyond PCM & CCM then you might need a couple more, not sure.

For a production environment the adapter makes sense, but for DIY use $80 is a lot for a couple of wires.

Sure, rub it in, your basically right and know what your getting at electrically. It was a bit gut wrenching to fork them over the money for the adaptor but I wanted to get up an running soon as possible and wanted the correct piece for the Tech 1.

I’m in the electronics business and have built all the serial interface boards for use with a laptop PC. In that case I actually have installed an additional connector in the car connected to the ALDL using my own plus and design. I can just plug in the PC easy now. The problem I had was trying to find just the 12 or 16 pin connectors for my personal use. I did look around but could not find any connectors which is the reason I designed my own for the PC. And also the reason I bought the adaptor for the Tech 1.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm facing the same issue with my 95 Aurora. Would it be as simple as replacing the car's connector with an OBD1 connector from the salvage yard? Just match up the pinouts? TIA!

Thanks. For the time being I was able to make my own jumper which is working great for SDL (Engine and Body stuff) just not E&C (entertainment & comfort controls or something like that.) Eventually I'll get the adapter off ebay for the right price.
