Default Zero on Mileage

I have been swapping ecms and memcals working on a tune. I have also repaired the grounds on the digital dash. Today I noticed that the instantaneous mileage was zero and the Avg was stuck on 1.2. The Mileage to empty is also zero. It does this with two different ecms and three Eproms.

Any ideas?

This is while driving right?
My guess is no communication from the ECM.

Eddie, This doesn't happen to be with a scanner connected to the ALDL does it? It is normal for Range and Fuel Economy data to be bad while a scan is in progress and ECM is in ALDL mode for the reason that -js- mentioned. Cluster data from the ECM is surpressed in favor of engine data in this mode. Disconnect from the ALDL and reset. Just a SWAG.
