Default Dyno Tune.. Worth it?

So I just picked up my first corvette after owning a few older carburated SBC Camaros so im new to computers and tuning and what not. The car is stock and I just want to know if a dyno tune this early is really worth it, or should i invest in some headers / intake, first?? What kinda power gains can i expect from the 300/340 base? Thanks

( 95 LT1 6 Speed )

probably not vs. the cost, unless you're into mods like heads/cam on top of it.

for your situation, i would contact www.pcmforless.com and have a mailorder deal done. it'll be much cheaper and get you close to what a $500 dyno tune will give you.

Not yet, wait till you modify it before you go and do anything like that. On a stock engine you wont gain enough to make it worth your money, and when you modify something else on the engine youll need to do it all over again in order to get the most out of it.

Thanks guys that sounds pretty interesting.. my plans are to only do headers, intake, and computer work for now, but since im in the process of selling my 400rwhp camaro, i doubt i will hold up to that

300hp feels like a turd right now..

If its a 95 LT1 you will be hard pressed to find a better intake then the factory intake. The main gains with the LT1 motor is head porting, cam, and headers. Even the factory exhaust is pretty good power wise.

I have a stock 95 LT1 A4.
Is there any value to using any of the tuning software out there?
I just want to the car to tuned the best it can for now as as.
I have looked at the PCM4LESS (175USD), LT1Edit ( 200USD), and the cable and some for scan software.

Thanks,

N7

Being an auto yes there is abit more usefullness to it on a stock vehicle compared to a manual, and the program id go for (which i have for my 94) is Tuner Cat. You will also require the $EE definition file for your car.

You can change the trans shift points and torque converter lock and unlock points, there is a number of shift and TCC tables, working on throttle position Vs MPH.

You need the cable, which you can either make or buy.

The reason i say there is some value to be able to change this is the stock shift tables for the electronic auto trans have a very tame and "flat" curve until about 87% throttle position, so in many cases it will take almost wide open throttle to shift back a gear, the slightest bit extra throttle will cause it to shift back 2 gears, and i always found myself downshifting manually for overtaking and to make part throttle acceleration abit better and smoother. (Sometimes you may not want to press the throttle to the floor to kick down a gear)

You can also disable a fair few things, emissions components included, meaning if you choose to remove them from the car they will not set a DTC or effect the running of the engine.

Traction control sensitivity can be adjusted or the whole system can be completly disabled.

Loads of other things can also be done from Tuner Cat. Also take a look at Data Master for your data logging to see what is doing what in terms of sensors and under what conditions.
