Default Byte 0x7FFE in ANHT_8D.bin...

I compared ANHT_HAC and the ANHT_8D.bin I found here:efitune.com GM BINS and more.

Byte 0x7FFE (2nd from the end in the bin-file) are not the same. Can someone explain why it is zero in the bin while the ANHT_HAC is 0xB0? Every 90-91 bin I've looked at (not so many) agrees with the ANHT_HAC and not the ANTH_8D.bin I downloaded. Someone out there who understands what will happen when you zero this byte?

I'll bet it doesn't do anything

Try changing it and see what happens.

Haven't tried that but since the checksum is wrong I think SES light will come on. Easy to test I suppose...

The checksum in the ANHT_8D.bin is DAA5 but that requires the byte to be changed to B0, otherwise the checksum should be D9F5.

Anyway, perhaps it is just an accident when someone read the chip and saved it, lost two last bytes... just a guess.

Your guess is correct. Many years ago a lot of chips were read with a burner/reader that would not always properly read the last one or two bytes. If you want to use the bin change it to match the hac. Those locations are vector tables and really should be correct in order to safely use the bin.

I corrected the bin and then I found a correct copy of the bin at the DIY-EFI site.

Thanks!
