Default Anyone interested in a ZF 6 speed transmission?

We have a manual transmission out of a '92 vette that has 85000 miles on it. It does have something wrong with it, but we thought someone who knew what they were doing could probably rebuild it. Not sure what it is worth, so make us an offer! :flag

We've only had this car for just over a week and already have to replace the transmission. We will be getting it from the service place in the next few days and then I'll have to see how much shipping would be. I'll post something when I know more...ok?

Whats wrong with it? Like exactly. Must be pretty severe if you have to replace it already. Let me know. I have a local guy that may be able to help me with it. Id love to put it in my '84 if I could get it fixed.

Can't say for sure what's wrong with it, since no one around here will even work on it. We thought originally that it was just a heat shield that was vibrating, but found out soon enough that it was something in the transmission. Thought it was the throw out bearing, then the input bearing, now they think it is an internal part. They say it sounds like something is rattling around internally. That's all I can say for sure. Hope that helps! We are supposed to pick up the car either tomorrow or Thursday and will be able to get the old tranny then. They started to take it apart, so it has to get put back together before we can get it from them.

Speaking for myself, I think your ZF, even broke, is worth more than $68 or even 3x THAT multiple as several posts have offered (including mine). So IMHO, those were not valid offers unless you want to sell it for that price.
BTW, welcome to the forum.

thekamps95, the joke is that these guys are trying to have fun at your expense. As you can see they have no genuine interest in your ZF. Obviously, these :conehead were the only ones who find this amusing. I was drawn to your post, because I have a ZF as well. I will try to sell mine locally , before resorting to the CF. The main reason for selling locally is to avoid the hassle of crating it up and then having one of these :jester clones want you to pay the shipping.
IMO, your ZF is worth $1500. if it's not in need of rebuilding. Are you including the bellhousing and shifter in your sale? Good luck selling the tranny. You could also try Ebay
BTW, no :jester , :conehead or :hat need to respond to my reply, but we all know you will try to have the last word.

Thanks for the info. I'm not looking to make a whole lot of money for this...just want to recoup some of our loss and thought someone might want it. If we could find someone in Illinois with a serious offer, we would be willing to drive halfway to save on the shipping. If we could get $500 we would be thrilled!

You will have no problem selling it at that price. I have seen ZF's in need of repair (broken case, etc) and rebuilding go for $600-$900 on Ebay. Does your tranny have any issues.

Yes, it has issues. If you read some of my earlier posts, you will see that it was making a vibration noise which we thought was something simple. So we bought the car anyway. Come to find out, it's something internal. None of the transmission places here will mess with it, so they told us we had to put in a new (used) one. We dropped off the new one yesterday and are waiting to get the old one back. They have to put it back together. You made a good point about Ebay. I will have to look into that. Thanks! :hurray:

Now now Wheelsup, lets not take any personal problems out here on the forum. I certinetly don't need to loose any points because of your inability to understand. I also won't allow you to goat me into saying anything improper. I have a good reputation here on the forum and I will not ruin it over someone who can't handle a little "in fun" joking. If you are that thin skinned, maybe you should get some help. Here's a big California wave to ya. ....and all 5 fingers are in the air. Nothing personal. :seeya

ittlfly, just to set the record straight, I understand that you were having alittle fun. The guy that posted the question unfortunitely did not pick up on your humor. As a result of me telling this guy that you had no real interest in his tranny ,you have resorted to questionable tactics. What kind of person talks about his good reputation , but IM's someone offline and shows his true colors?
Here's five for you :seeya , but don't expect a Xmas card this year.
