That sucks. Too late, of course but my approach is to see how old the account it (in his case was just made this month, red flags #1), second is to look at post history (all of his are about stuff for sale, red flag 2), and third is I would always say I’ll pay with goods and services, and I’d cover the extra 3%, scammers usually get weird when you suggest that.
People with a long history here, hundreds (or thousands) of posts, you can sort of feel a bit more trust towards, but there’s definitely a world of shitty people out there if you’re not careful.

Previously DavidOG, Robertte and now this screen name. That phone number is the common denominator. I’ve reported him now twice to the Admin so expect possibly yet another PM regarding the latest scammer account.
