Default Brake calipers

FS: If you're thinking about brakes, here's a stash of genuine OEM PBR C4 calipers, all rehabbed with new boots, seals. All leftovers from a late '80s racing program. Both early C4 single-barrel fronts and later C4 dual-barrels.

Some for 13-inch rotors, lots of 12s. Rears are missing springs. Asking $35 for early design fronts, $50 and $60 for later design. Rears $20 apiece as is. Shipping extra.

Hello, brownsburg. I think all C4s have the same rear calipers. I have a bunch. I'd gladly have you come by our shop. We're the Kramer Motor Co., 124 E. Broadway, Shelbyville.

They're not all the same, the rear calipers changed throughout the years. The later C4's went from a drum emergency brake to manual cable operated calipers.

Hello. And thanks. I thought '85 thru '96 rears were the same. How can I tell if I have the early or later design? Here's pix:

If you're talking about the early drum e-brake vs off the caliper: the e-brake cable lever is on the backing plate, not on the caliper (which is where the brake shoes are mounted). At least it is on my 86, having replaced a hub the other weekend.

All the brakes changed in 88'.

So you will need the drum style parking brake for the rear. The fronts are 11.5" rotors if I recall correctly which also have different calipers than later 88'+ C4s.

Someone needs to produce the definitive history, complete with pix, of the C4 brake scene. I could be wrong, but I think here's what '84 thru '87 front calipers look like. They're single piston. I have a bunch. I could stand corrected, but I think dual-piston architecture is from '88 on. Rotors were either 12-inch (11 3/4, to be more precise) or 13 inch if you got the J55 option. I have them, too.

Correct

See
http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/...rakes-640.html

As you note , single piston caliper on 84- 87 fronts.
As previously observed , the rears you show are 88 - 96
