Default Polished TPI Plenum

eBay link to TPI

It was difficult getting a good photo because the flash was reflecting too much off the horizontal surface

I was going to use this on my next project car, but decided that car will run a carb.... It was going to be an old school TA-Firebird, but decided to go a 69 big block Road Runner or Charger

EDIT
I was just asked if the surface is like a mirror.... Yep. Thank-you NCC-1701!

Yes with the proper tools, and the time and patients. I have hand polished my c3 aluminum rims (my neighbor polished medical devices) the trick is keeping it nice after the effect. POR-15 makes a clearcoat hardener for rims that work nicely on this too. The whole kit cost about $135.00 + shipping and includes all the rouge needed, just not the air tools.

The main factor is it takes a lot of time - but since it is a labor of love, it is worth it

Before you try a large "Class A" surface like a plenum, you will want to practice on smaller pieces. Also , never forget that you will be dealing with different aluminum alloys - they are different to work with due to hardness and composition...

Also, trying to get a level surface is a challenge, since most of the castings have porocity.

Lastly, have forethought and consider the dimensions and your ability to get in the tight areas. This is why most people avoid doing the runners.

Look in your local phone book and look up wheel polishers...most of them polish everything. A guy here in Phoenix does the plenum, runners, throttle body and the distributer cover and does a show quality job and charges like 175.00. So for that much..let the pros do it.

I agree at a $175.00 I wouldnt touch it (unless you like breathing the rouge and have some time to waste). Also the setup to start doing this will cost you close to this if you are going to clear coat. And that is still a tricky task. Enjoy

I aree 100% If you can get it done for 175, it is worth every cent!
