Default How do you remove harmonic balancer

Can anyone please tell me how to remove a harmonic balancer on my 96,LT-1,auto vette.I have an front oil leak,i think it may be the oil pan, timing chain cover, etc.Looks like the front bracket is to close to pull the balancer off w/ a puller. Also,is their a way to check out the opti-spark while I have everything off.My vette has 45,000 miles on it and it runs fine.Any info you can give me would be of great HELP.Thanks

Mine just pulled right off, I've seen a guide say to take a block of wood, put it against the back and hit with a hammer, and to go back and forth between sides til it comes off.

If you can't get it off, you're not using a big enough hammer.

You can modify the puller by cutting some lenght off.

There is a good chance you will need to loosen the oil pan some to get the timing chain cover back on right (putting it back together)

This is the most useful and critical tip in my option.. if you miss this step getting those bolts loose is a PITA!
