Seat Belt Chime
I have had my 95 for a little over a week now. The seat belt chime does not work at all. For any of the instances where it should ring. I noticed on other posts that if there is a problem wiht it a sys code could show up. This has not happend. Is there a way of disabling the chime and renabling it. I didnt find anythign in the manual. Also where is teh device located that generates the chime. Im wondering if the previous owner may have disconnected it or something of that sort.
Thanks for any and all help.

On the 86, if it's like my '88, there is a connector that runs to the seatbelt clip near the central tunnel in the car. Disconnecting that will disable the chime.
I'm not familiar with the later models, sorry I can't help with that, but maybe check to see if there is a connector in the same place I mentioned?

Had the same problem in my 94. Look in your shop manual under "tone generator" The manual will tell you how to test the module. Its behind the dash and somewhat of a pain to get to but its doable. I replaced mine a few months back with a used unit from a fellow forum member. Not sure what they would cost new.

When I bought mine the chime was dying...kinda sounded like it had a short.
The dealership popped in a new one and it's dinged ever since!
Where is it? If nobody can tell you I can crack the GM manual when I get home....

It's behind the DIC. Not sure where it was (on the forum) but I saw a post or how to about taking the chime unit apart and resoldering a connection to fix them.
