Default Carbon Fiber hood for C4

Really easy question. Does anyone besides LPE make a carbon fiber hood for our cars??

I was thinking it would be awsome looking have it painted but leave hashmarks not painted and some sort of design unpainted so you can see some of the carbon fiber.... Too bad they are gonna be like a million dollars if anyone really does make it

I don't honestly know.... they ain't cheap, but, not as expensive as you think, either.

I have read some interesting things over the years about carbon fibre delaminating... you may want to investigate this farther.

carbon fiber's supposed to be really light weight right? Seems to me if there is a carbon fiber hood, that would cut out alot of weight on a c4, as our clamshell weighs as much as most ricer's...

Exotic Muscle also sells it but it's more expensive than Toledo Pro.

I remember a post in the past that discussed the CF hood vs the factory one and if I remember correctly the difference in weight was pretty small.......something like 30 lbs. I guess you have to ask youself if the small weight difference is worth the extra cost.

If you take that much weight off the front..wont that throw the weight ratio off to much? Make it handle funny?

it was carbon fiber w/ a thin layer of "fiberglass" resin over it for smoothness...

it was NOT Carbon fiber like on shiny motorcycle parts - don't fool yourself into that

...because 30 lb's over the front end IS a big deal when it comes to weight transfer & such when dealing w/ straight line acceleration

Just get some carbon fiber "look" stickers and make your own Hashmarks. It wont mess up the weight bias, and wont cost much and still give you that Ricer...um Racer exotic look.

30 lbs...might be worth .03 in the quarter. Rule of thumb is 100 lbs=.10

Yup.. Ricer it is... Sorry Im trying to be different... Everyone seems to be stuck in this mold with corvettes. I wasn't asking you for your comments on how it would look, because frankly I dont care.... I asked for a place to locate parts Im looking for. Stay out of the post if you dont have anything to add to it thank you

The C4 is front heavy. Any weight reduction in the front will bring it closer to a 50/50 ratio. That will not hurt the handling in any way.

plus, removing 30lbs from high up will lower center of gravity, aiding in cornering.

it all adds up.

Not always the case. Every year was different. For example my '87 Z51 was a perfect 50/50 when released.
