I am looking for a hard top for my 89 Vette. A friend of mine who has a 90 Vette got a hardtop and told me that the 84 to 89 Vette are different becuase of the pin locations. Anybody got any info on this. Do I have to buy an 89 hardtop or can I use an 87? THanks

'86-'96. (no 84/85 convertibles made) All of the hardtops will fit any of the years. However GM didn't start putting that hardware in for the rear/side mounting hardware until '89, So, you should have it. If by chance you don't have it, it can be purchased. that's what us '86-'88 convertibles have to do.

I forgot that the hardtop was the option for the vert. I have a coupe. Looking for a solid targa top for it. Sorry about that. It's the pin locations on the coupe that I am concerned about.

Nope buddy you are in the clear your car will take any top from '89-'96. There are 3 styles of tops availible for c4s:
84-86e
86l-88
89-96

The top from the '90 should fit with no probs. Only the '86-'88 need the retrofit kit due to the windshield pillar mounts.
