Took the Justin Bell 3 day course and drove Z06s and a C5 coupe on the North, South and full courses at VIR. I hated the coupe. It was constantly plowing (understeering) and didn't really have the sports car ride.
I have driven a number of Z06s on the track since then and have fallen in love with their handling and power. They don't have the power or the 'raw' feeling that my '86 has but for a stock car they are great. I plan on getting a 2006 Z06 but I'll keep the C4s. They are paid for and I love the way they drive.

I've never even SAT in a C5. I've waved to a few of them, though... ;)

I have spent quite a bit of time in my dad's MY C5 and I like it....would I give up one of my C4's for one....probably not....would I own one down the road...probably. I just feel like I get a little bit more of a corvette feel from the C4. The C5 is very refined, quick and fun to drive....but I just have a soft spot for the C4. :)

I haven't but I want to. Regardless, I'm keeping my C4 no matter what I add to the stable. And that includes adding a wife..............
The C6s are cool, but too pricey. I'd rather put the money in my 94.

Did they at least recognize your existence and wave back?

Re: How many other fellow C4 owners have even driven a C5? (MyRedC4)
About 1 1/2yrs ago, while my son was storing a bone '99 6-speed coupe for a car dealer buddy, he let me drive for a short.
Though it felt quicker than my '88 I know I would beat it every time to the win stripe, so I guess it was the effect of the stick vs my A4.
My overall impression was that it was nice inside though I was too close to that air bag in order to reach the clutch. And road noise was about the same as my '88 when it had stock exhaust.
I liked the 60-speed, hated the air bag deal and missed my digi-dash & custom fit of my seats. So, no, there is not a C5 in my near future. If I get another Vette it will be either an early c3 stick or an '89 6-speed roadster.

I have a few times.
Not to write a book, the C5 is more refined.
Whats funny to me is that it feels the same---in a lot of ways. Such as the way that you sit, see, and performance wise. Its almost is a C4 1/2

How many other fellow C4 owners have even driven a C5?
Some time ago, a friend let me drive his then wife's boss' droptop. I was in heaven....but the power(this was prolly in 99 or 2000) was no match for what I have obviously.
I drove a friend's car BillY2KFRC's Cartek hardtop last year, man, that thing was a true pleasure to drive...the smoothness of the engine to the crisp handling set me off for weeks.
I am going to purchase a C5 in the very near future. Not sure what I'm going to do with my c4 yet...it might stay and it might go, but...I will be a C5 owner this year at some point. I simply have to find one and figure out the $ end and I'm there.

I've driven several C5's. One '98 vert, NCM delivered, from Tenn. to TX. While I'd like to own a C5 (and a C6 for that matter), I'm not going to give this one up for it. When I can afford to ADD a C5 to this one, I will. Till then, this one will do just fine. :yesnod:

Have driven 3 C-5s including FRC 6-speed. just can't see myself giving up C-4 for one. A little too smooth and computer controlled for me. I do give these cars a lot of credit for go power and handling just not quite as rough on edges. I think Iam hooked on C-4s rough edges and all.

Re: How many other fellow C4 owners have even driven a C5? (longhorn_C4)
I have had the opportunity to drive my friends '99 coupe at different times since he bought it new. The very first time I drove the car, it reminded me of a '95 nissan 300zx twin turbo I drove before I bought mine in '96. The ride is nice and smooth and there is absolutely no drama unless you are going REALLY fast. The more I drive it, the more it grows on me, but it's been 5+ years and the only way I would have one is if I could get a new one at a steep discount. Besides the C6 is a C5 with a little MORE refinement!(as if we buy Vettes for refinement) :leaving:

I drove an 04 Z06 commerative edition lastnight. It was a very very sweet car. I was very impressed with the car. I will still be keeping my 40th but it was fun to drive the Z

Re: How many other fellow C4 owners have even driven a C5? (MyRedC4)
my uncle has an 04 c5 - drove it on sunday, then drove my 84. the c5 is nice, but it was missing the feel of the car I get when I drive my 84. Also, for such an expensive car, aside from the HUD, the dash looked like it came our of a pontiac grand am - very under impressive. My dash has the now obsolete digital readouts, but it gives the car such character.
I coudl see myself getting a c5, but not giving up my c4. I am sure that is how c3 owners feel about c4's and so on...

I know myself well enough to say if I had drove a C-5 before I bought my 94, I would still be saveing for one now  I wanted to pay cash for my third Corvette and the newest one I could get was a high mileage 94. For sure a C-5 will grace my driveway someday I hope. :D :D :steering: A friend let me drive a 99 coupe for a day with a auto in it. WOW what a dofference a C-5 is. :D

Re: How many other fellow C4 owners have even driven a C5? (MyRedC4)
My wife and I drove a C5 convertable with auto and we both liked it. Her car is a 96 coupe with auto, and mine is a 91 ZR-1. I used to just like certain years but now I can appreciate all the years. Yes I have certain favorites but it is true each year owes its heritage to the previous years. I just love CORVETTES period end of discussion. I could own any year Vette. But let's face it technology is getting better and the breed improves regardless of our favorites. Yes the C5 is a great car and I would not have a problem owning one . My choices would be a Z06 or a vert.

Re: How many other fellow C4 owners have even driven a C5? (1990CORVETTE)
Drove a 2000 vert and took a ride in a 2003 Z06. When I drove the vert, it was before I had my 85, and I loved it. After being in a C4, sitting in a tub, listening to the faint whisper of 20 year old rattles and the B&B rumbling along, the star wars dash.....HOW COULD I GIVE IT UP?!?!
I won't. Will I buy a C5 later, most likely, they're nice cars, and still fun. Will I ever sell my 85? Only if i have to. :p:
