Default My trip to the dragstrip ......

Went to the track Fri. night (4/16/04) to make a couple of passes in my new car. Just bought a 91' black coupe 107,000 miles - L98, auto, the RPO reads a 2.59 gear, everything on the car is STOCK except I cut the catalytic converter off and put some LT1 mufflers on it. The track was in good shape that night and the passes are as follows...

First Pass--------------Second Pass
I1 : 2.056----------I1 : 2.033
I2 : 5.810----------I2 : 5.777
I3 : 8.922----------I3 : 8.885
mph : 79.077----------mph : 79.343

E.T. : 13.887----------E.T. : 13.863
mph : 98.031----------mph : 98.092

The car ran alot better than I thought a bone stock L98 would run. Sunday, I put some good plugs, wires, distibutor cap, rotor button, and a new air cleaner on the car, and I think that I am going to pull the frisbee off and go back to the strip this Fri. and see how much difference all of that will make. I am hoping it will make up for at least a 10th or 2 maybe. Then the serious modding starts. :D

nice. get that 60' time under 2 seconds and you could get some really good times, could be from the 2.59 rear though.

Your car is exactly where mine was after I hollowed the main cat. When bone stock I was normally in the 14.00 to 14.05 range. After hollowing the cat I was 13.85 - 13.90. Get that 60' down a bit and you'll improve even more. :yesnod:

I just noticed your user name indicates you have a 6 speed, but you stated you have 2.59s which indicates an auto..........what tranny do you got?

I had a 6speed in my old TA that I used to have, don't know/can't figure out how to change my username.

About the 60' times - traction was not an issue, just lack of power. The car would just bog for about 20-30 feet or so - I figure it is because of the 2.59 gear. I don't want to change the gear because I plan on swapping over to a dana 44. :yesnod:

I figure with that kinda times, with a set of sticky tires, 13.4's are possible. :yesnod:
