Newbie C4 Owner With Targa Top Question...
So I have the removable transparent roof panel with my (beautiful) 1985 and I can't remember what I should expect...
When I get up to about 55 or 60 mph I get significant wind noise in the dead front center of the top. It isn't violent, just noticably louder.
Is this normal? Am I looking at a replacement for the weatherstrip? Is the solid color top quieter in the front center? Thanks!

Check to see if the acrilic is pulling away from the frame. That happened to mine.

I don't have any noise. Make sure it is on tight and the weatherstrip sits down properly or you may have to replace it. (the weather stripping)

There is a procedure to adjust and align your top. It involves removng the interior trim and adjusting the hold downs.
Here's the link. It should help.

I'm thinking probably top alignment as well. When I got my 84, the passenger side mount was extremely loose. I could lift up on the passenger side of the top when it was screwed onto the car and it would move 1/2" to 3/4" inch. You want to talk about a vibration at highway speed.
It was easy to tighten up. Hardest part was getting those clips off of the sunvisors. :D

Look at the bolts on the rear of the top and the front of the top where it's situated and make sure they're all tight. If they're loose you may be getting an unwanted "lift" at moderately excessive speeds. But it might be the acrylic trying to leave the frame which is allowing wind inside also, which could be your loud noise.
