Re: What kind of Oil and Filter do you use (bart15)
I have used FRAM filters and Quaker State oil in my vehicles for more than 30 years. That's usually around 4 vehicles in this household. Every second oil change, I add a some EOS from GM to the crancase. Engine life has been excellent. They outlast the bodies ... !!!
Regardless of this "study" that some individual did slamming FRAM, I have never had a problem with them. I don't think this guy cutting up oil filters and passing judgement is any kind of authority on filters. Just a guy with a hacksaw making his own observations. Everyone seems to be taking his word for gospel. Just my opinion on that!!

Mobil 1/Purolator 1
Anybody know if Mobil ones makes a 5w/30 synthetic in the high mileage formula? I think the seal conditioners would be a good thing but can only find the high mileage formula in the 10w/40 (or something like that).

I've seen it on the shelves but like you said only in the one weight formula. I figure if its always had 5-30 M-1 in it, the seals are probably still good. It might be for those hi-milers switching over. Tuff to read through the marketing hype.
