Default How long did your ZF 6 speed last?

How long did your ZF 6 speed last before needing internal work.

This survey is in two parts. If you have had to do internal work on your ZF 6 speed, check the top series of questions.

If you haven't had to do any internal work, check the bottom series of questions.

I hosed this survey. Please add a catagory if you need to.

If you haven't made any repairs yet, please make acatagory that says

No repairs yet 40,000 to 80,000 miles, or whatever your catagory is.

Thanks

96 had 39,500 when I got it and came with a ZF factory rebuilt for GM 6 speed, so I assume it was replaced for reason.

116,000 miles. All I've had to do is replace the upper and lower shifter boots and the backup switch, which isn't really a transmission problem.

So far resulkts are encouraging. Only two admit out of 25 voters admit to repairs.... myself and one other.

I was reading the ZFdoc.com webpage and there was a test that indicated that the syncronizers were 17% gone in 15,000 miles. That's a projected syncronizer life of only 88,000 miles. I do doubt that the trans being tested had an easy life :)

I voted No Repairs 40k to 80k, but that just refers to my current tranny which has 45k now.

The original ZF was replaced at 30k while under the previous owner. He claimed he lost the 2nd gear synchro... I'm guessing he was powershifting or something (just a guess), but it was fixed under warrantee.

I maintain the current tranny well... it's been good to me so far :D

1990 with 58000 miles and no repairs. I do need to replace the throwout bearing, its makes a lot of noise in neutral with pedal released. :cuss

71,000 miles, 250 passes on the strip, the last 50 passes with 140 shot of nitrous, the first 200 passes on a Doug Rippie 385 stroker; this past Christmas I sent the trans to the ZF Doc. It was just rattling a little, and shifted OK, but wanted to be sure....$4,000 later I was sure. It's great again, no rattles, short shifter, ZF Doc does outstanding work. But, crap, the price ain't cheap. (In the Doc's defense, I will say that price included shipping between AZ and KY, blueprinting, all new gears, and a short shifter.)
