What about a JetHot coated one? They do them in silver and they clean so easy.

Unless you have experience and done this before, it is very time consuming. It is not something you can do in one day, If you are willing to spend many hours doing it yourself, go for it. If the Vette is your daily driver, and the parts you want to polish are from the car, and not spares, your car will be down untill you finish. I chose to get mine done for me for a 1 for 1 swap and I had no down time. I got my TPI polished. My alternator is chrome and you can hardly see a difference. Chrome is more expensive. I got my TPI parts polished here: http://www.polishinginc.com

You can see pictures of my polished TPI here. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=759072

I agree with INaband -- S&P.

I've seen several of their TPI's (and have purchased far too many items from them... OUCH!), and their polishing quality is fantastic. :yesnod:

I already have to many hours invested in preparing plenum, runners and valve covers for paint
I can't imagine how many more it would take to bring them to a polished state. The plenum is easy, but just look at the work required for the runners
Those are exellent prices on that site were 86PACER got his. For that money I wouldn't think twice

WOW!! That turned out very nice. Those prices are fantastic, considering the time involved to polish. I could probably ditch the shipping charges since they are located here in Arkansas. Hmmmmm, wonder how I can convince the wife that my engine compartment needs some bling!!!!

I had mine powder coated in grey along with the valve covers, plenum, runners, for about a $100 when I had the intake leak repaired. Clean up like is simple!! Couple of pictures on my page http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c4/my85vette/ I can never figure out how to get the pictures in my posts so go and look!

I'm just about done with mine. Have about 2 more individual runners to do. The plenum is not that hard, but the runners suck. the plenum i was able to take down with some scotch brite pads that attached to my drill, then i used 60 grit, 150 grit, 220 grit, 320 grit, 400 grit, 1000 grit, 2000 grit (wet), and then topped it off with some mother's alumimum and mag polish. i came out pretty good, it should all be back on the car by next weekend and i'll post pics. for the runners, the best trick i found was to use a sponge sanding block, it contours nicely to the runner. i would have to say that from start to finish it will have taken me about 30 hours to do, i could probably do it in about 20 with the experience, but never again.

Polish it, if it's scratched or nicked from a dropped wrench it can be repaired easier and cheaper than a chrome job.

Contact Michael at http://www.Polishinginc.com, tell him Dave Cooper referred you to him. He did most of the work on our new racer to show off his stuff.
http://www.r-dracing.com/91vette.htm

His pricing is very fare and he may have a spare unit that he can swap out with you. He just down the road from Street and Performace in Mena, AR and used to do some work for them.

Dave
