DIAMOND CUT HEADLAMPS and other light upgrades
Has anyone tried the diamond cut headlights? Are they worth the price? 49.99? If you have them, please post pics. How about the super white bulbs? Any good prices?
Any other good light upgrades out there?

Because the headlamps buckets are down when the lights are off, the visual look of the lamps doesn't really need to be a factor. The output of the lamp in lumens and the bulb temperature in Kelvin is what is important.
The Sylvania Silverstars are one of the best "bang for the buck" upgrades in terms of better light output. Another good upgrade is the Hella european bulb housings and a set of APC Xenon lamps. These bulbs provide a very white light and are about double the output of the stock halogen bulbs. The Hella housings are glass and a bit heavier than plastic lamps so if the gears in the headlight motors are bad, they could eventually fail. An upgrade to bronze gears will solve that problem. If your headlight motors are in good shape, they will handle the galss lamps.
I have the Hella/APC setup in my 92 and I really like it. The Hella lens is cut so that the low beams provide sort of a flat top to the light which helps in fog or rain. They also project some light off to the right side so it's easier to see the road edge. The high beam is focused and fairly narrow and it goes a long way that really helps at freeway speeds at night. With this combination, I can feel heat from the beam at 25 feet away!!
A HID lighting system is also available from Sylvania but it costs around $600 and does require some wiring changes.

Re: DIAMOND CUT HEADLAMPS and other light upgrades (c4cruiser)
Id like to add on C4 cruisers comments,
Sylvanias HID 'Xenarc' 6054 system is garbage and is discontinued. It is an OEM quality light source in Taiwanese reflectors. It sucks I had them. Worse than stock. Luckily Sylvania refunded my money.
I also had Matrix Diamond Star headlight reflectors with Matrix 90/100w reflectors. While the light looked cool, lookign at the headlight they didnt work good at all. Too much high.low beam separation.(you adjust your lows' and your hi's point into the trees.)
I also went with hella e-spec , Matrix 90/100w bulbs.....Better, but I had no doubt the bluish tint on the Matrix bulbs detracted from the lo-beam performance,.
I finally went with daniel stern's setup (do an internet search, daniel stern lighting). Bosch E-spec, clear NARVA 100/130 w bulbs, relay kit with 10 gauge wiring to bulbs. That did the trick....

Go to Ebay and look for "diamond cut " anything with a rectangular lite will be the right one... I've not seen them in the other sizes.. I need to learn how to post pics on this site and put on two different kinds... One is glass in the front and the other one is plastic....I like them both... Plastic ones are easier to find

Re: DIAMOND CUT HEADLAMPS and other light upgrades (89Corvette6spdFX3)
I got the plastic ones (about $18 + $18 shipping w/the 80/85 bulbs included -says bright k-wise as 100/130. Got blue halo (I didn't hook up). I like them. Very white/bright. Plugged right in. Like daylight. I had a bad bulb (high beam) and they replaced it free, just like they claim.
Great for under $38! I'm sure a hundred or two would buy better ones. When you ain't got the $$, these are just as good! ;)

Sounds like a deal to me.... I'll bet the high dollar ones aren't any better.... just part of the "corvette tax"...The glass ones are heavier and you have to grind the nipple off the back of them to fit the vette buckets....

Re: DIAMOND CUT HEADLAMPS and other light upgrades (onrecess)
All I can tell you is that my old Diamond Star Headlights were garbage. these were made by a company called matrix, and later, the name of the manufacturer changed. Also, the front of the headlight box and an internet link to a non-working website. That shows you the type of business I am talking about.
I bought them at Summit Racing equipment. They had polygon reflective coated blocks, and a large 'dish' shield over the bulb, which effectively blocked out the tips of the bulb. Some of you might say 'oh thats necessary so you wont blind other drivers', but all bulbs have a black coating on the tip to avoid doing that. My Bosch e-specs dont have a guard on them, and I use 100w/130 w bulbs. Never been flashed once.
Diamond Star headlights are cosmetic.
If you like to see the road, go with what works. I am kind of offended that no one here is listening about all the troubles i have been through trying to find a good headlight.
You have a 150 MPH car, put REAL headlights that provide the best downroad lighting humanly possible. Not ricer crap.
If you want real headlights go with Daniel Sterns setup. It will run you almost $200 for reflectors, bulbs, the relay kit and wiring. However, when you and your family's safety is at stake, I prefer good downroad lighting.

Re: DIAMOND CUT HEADLAMPS and other light upgrades (corvette-pilot)
The ones I like do not have the shields over the bulbs and are a significant improvement over halogen sealed beams... Also they do not seem to offend other drivers at all..... 150 mph???? family safety??? OK

Re: DIAMOND CUT HEADLAMPS and other light upgrades (89Corvette6spdFX3)
I got the diamond cut headlights off E-bay when my sealed light burned out. I did have to dremel the sides of the plastic socket where they plug in to get them to fit. very easy. They are alot lighter than the sealed beam ones and brighter. Big diffrence.
