Whenever we see a civic or integra with red emblems, or "Type R" decal, we shake our heads....rice rice rice.... poser.

So what about hash marks on a Corvette that's not a grand sport? They don't specifically say "Grand Sport" but well, it's blatantly obvious what they represent...

Just something to ponder... So do my Y2k wheels make a C4 a poser? BTW, I don't give a crap what anyone thinks about my wheels... :D And I'm not considering putting hash marks on my vette either.

The "rule" I hear is, if your Corvette can perform at the level of an LT4, then you can have hash marks and not be a poser (because you have the same power and a vette...) :yesnod: :crazy: ...But if you've got a stock L98, etc, then it could be seen as "poser" :lol:

I like them, and it's a Corvette thing, so why not put them on, it's like having ZR1 wheels, many have them, but not all are posing to be a ZR1.

Heck I'd get hash marks AND gs rims, but still wouldn't call it a Grand Sport or say that's what I was going for, all I know is that GS's are AWESOME cars and the owner can do as he/she pleases :D

I would not do it but I dont think that they are posers. In fact I see the person as just another fan of Corvette and its heritage. It is also an opportunity for me to talk to them about cars. :thumbs:

That shouldn't matter. A Grand Sport is a thing unto it's own. Having an LT-4 or a motor with the same output still does not make it a GS. As far as the stripes go, they look good on some cars. But to be perfectly honest, my first reaction when I see them is that it's a newbie who happened to see an Ecklers catalog on the newstand.

Ill Tell ya, Ive had my GS Stripes for a good while. Ive had countless people ask me what they signify. Most want to know why I didnt put the ones for the other wide on. some think its duct tape covering a crack. (they're silver).

Ive only had one person, a 15 year old, ask me if it was a real grand sport. I kindly replied if hw was being serious...I could tell he was. So, I kindly explaind the difference between my car and a GS.

So, to me, unless you know what a GS is, it doesnt matter to you. And trust me, not alot of people know what one is, thus us the curse of a rare car.

MY car looks good with them, they're slightly misaligned, very slightly, cant tell from a few feet back, but after 3 tries..It didnt matter.

I was going to get a 2 dollar TYPE R emblem fro mAuto zone as a joke, pop it on the fender....but ...then Iwoke up....

I think it's entirely a moot point. I'll tell ya' why. This whole thing is about hashmarks being demonstrative of some semblance of performance, right? So if you have an L98 or a stock LT1 and hashmarks, you are a poser because you can't perform as well as an LT4??? :bs

I love the GS, but does it (i.e., the LT4 motor) perform like the original 5 Grand Sports? So what - it shouldn't have hashmarks then, either?!? :sleep:

I thought the hash marks were in tripute to the grand sport racing in the 60's. I dont think is a poser at all, just a tribute. Did you guys see the Jaguar grand Sport, same hash marks, same tribute to grans sport racing.
