Whats the Single Best Performance Upgrade?
My '92 is nearing 100K miles and I am considering everything from a basic tune up to sending it to Lingenfelter for a $10 upgrade. Other than these 2 extremes, whats the SINGLE BEST performance enhancing upgrade I can perform?

Anyway, rear-end gears is your best single, bang for the buck, performance upgrade.
If you're not picky, a 150-200 shot of NOS would do you just fine.
And if money is no object, supercharging is always an option to consider.
Better yet, get a late model ZØ6 and be done with it.

Probably lower rear gear ratio, 3.54/3.73 for automatic, 4.10 for a stick.
Then if you have an Auto, put in a 2400-2600 stall TC, and you can get 12s if you can drive.

The single best mod depends on your goals and preferences.
What's your performance target (1/4mile?, top speed?, and such), do you care about mileage, do you need better handling, is it for street & strip....?
For sheer driving fun I would say a TransGo shift kit and a 2,000RPM TC. At least it realy made my '88 come to life and feel like a "sports car".
For NA engine work I would say a good cam will realy wake it up. Of course a cam is only part of the total air flow package, i.e. intake, heads, cam and exhaust.

Beyond the more sane choices (gears, converter, exhaust), if you are really just looking for the most power for the buck, it is N20.

Assuming you had to choose only one thing to do to your car.
Most noticeable performance change for least amount of money=gears.
Most noticeable performance change for most amount of money=supercharger.
