Console lid
My console lid is torn on the back side. The only place I could find one is Corvette Mikes in So Cal. The lid is light grey and they say the manufactor does not recommend dying the lid. My interior is saddle. Has anyone dyes one, or know another company?

Re: Console lid (Movnviolation)
I'm betting that a competent auto trim (upholstery) shop could fix you right up and for less than a new lid.

Take your car to upholstery shops in your area. Ask them for suggestions. Any good upholsterer can fix you up. My local guy is a corvette owner. He did my visors and installed new seat covers for me. Cheaper and no problems with the installs that way... :D

Re: Console lid (Movnviolation)
Just to let you know, I work at a GM dealer and checked on the price of a new console lid for my '92 Vette. List price is $190 from GM, my price $150. I said screw that, I'll try and fix it myself.
Good luck!

Re: Console lid (92LT1Auto)
The rightside edge of my lid came unglued and would bind when the lid was opened. Took it off, epoxied then used heavy duty 3/8 inch staples underneath. Still looks great after 6-7 years.
Doesn't Mid America have lids in their catalog?

I dyed the saddle console lid cover on my 87 to black and it worked just fine. Clean the vinyl with something like Dawn and warm water, use a plastic prep such as Prep-Sol to remove any oils and just apply a couple light coats of black vinly dye. Mine came out just fine!!

Re: Console lid (Movnviolation)
I am assuming that you have a 84-89.....The lid should still be available from GM...I noticed MAD no longer has it on there website...it may have recently become discontinued...anyway they are only available in Graphite...MAD sells Dye for around 12 bucks a can...I have used the stuff to dye consoles many times with no problems....If your rubber top is coming up like every C4 then staple it and if it does not latch the button and spring are available from MAD.

Re: Console lid (Movnviolation)
I'm sorry I didn't say my car is an 89. I checked with an upholsterer that did a complete interior on another car I have that has a complete restoration on and he said that he could not cover the lid due to it being a molded vinyl. I will attempt to locate another, however, he is the best in the area and did a great job on my other car. I may buy the grey lid and dye it. I was curious if anyone else dyed one.
