Garage floor paints...what?
Now that I get to move into a new house with a "naked" garage floor
I need some ideas for painting it
I'm leaning towards a two part epoxy paint with "sprinkels" that I can add to it for a cool look.
So.....Who has used what and did you like it?...pictures and website links would be nice also

I want to use the epoxy floor from ucoatit.com. Expensive (I think) but looks really nice. You can pick the "sprinkles" color to match or contrast to the main color you choose. One day soon I hope.

2 words: Tile it!
Floor paint look great until you start driving cars on it.
I tiled my floor in saltillo tile and created 2 car bays. I then put rubber mats down in the bays.
Trust me, tile the floor.

We did our garage floor with UCoatit, http://www.ucoatit.com , and it looks great! Some may think it is a bit pricey, almost $500 with the high gloss automotive quality clearcoat, but it seems to be holding up fine. The dealership where I work just spent about $30,000 to coat the entire shop floor, and it is already bubbling and peeling! They didn't use UCoatit. They used UCoatit on the floor in one of the buildings at Carlisle, and it looks pretty good, after having thousands of people and cars all over it. My garage takes much less abuse. Then again, you can always tile the floor. Let's see...a 20x20 2 car garage, that's 400 square feet. I saw some really nice tiles for $9.95 each. That's 12x12 inch. You do the math. http://www.ucoatit.com :yesnod:

I did my floor using pre-sealed Super Saltillo from Home Depot for $2.25 a s.f.
You have to shop a little. :steering:

I coated mine first with Silicone Acrylic Concrete Sealer, then layed down self stick vinyl tiles from Home Depot.

Thanks...but I gotta say it takes up a bunch of time to keep it clean and I can't use a jack anywhere near the tiles. Rubber soled shoes mark it up really easily.

Killer, you would have to have some kind of slate, or metal or industrial strength material to hold up the weight and single point loading of a jack and car. Here's a sight in England that has such tiles (just to show you)...so I'm sure there's places on the web I just threw in "garge floor tiles" into a google search.

Too small for a showroom. Once I get my daily driver in, there's hardly enough room left to walk around and clean em. Wife's suv has to sit out in the driveway. As soon as the lottery comes in...it's a three car garage with a lift. :D

Epoxy is incredibly durable and should hold up to whatever you want to dish out to it.
The "sprinkles" are really a necessity in my opinion because without them, a small water or liquid spill could turn your floor into an ice rink! Epoxy can get slippery when wet. The "sprinkles" give you some traction.
Although the end result is well worth it, the most important thing is the prep! Not prepping properly will almost insure that it's going to bubble and peel and your time will be wasted.
Before considering epoxy, take a 12" square sheet of plastic (a cut up trash bag works fine) and use duct tape to securly tape it flat to your garage floor. Make sure you completely tape around all the edges. Leave it there for 24-48 hours and then take it up. If there is a moisture spot under the area where the bag was, DON'T EPOXY. You'll be wasting time and money. Your floor won't breath/drain properly and your epoxy coat will be gauranteed to bubble/peel over time.
If it's not to moist, epoxy is probably the cheapest, most durable floor covering per square foot. You really need to spend a lot of time with prep on the floor, though... I've made this post long enough already, but you'll need to clean and acid wash the floor before application.
This project could easily eat a weekend, and make sure you have good ventilation.

Re: Garage floor paints...what? (69mako)
I painted my floor two years ago with Tile Clad from Sherwin Williams. They can mix it is several different colors - or you can get a clear if that is what you want. Price is about $80.00 for a 2 gallon kit - (1 gallon part A and 1 gallon part B). No hot tire pick up and nothing I've spilled on it seems to hurt it (brake fluid, gasoline, oil, tranny fluid, gear oil, anti-freeze).
Good luck
