I saw the mag yesterday at work. Nice story. Maybe one day he'll get the Corvette he wants :auto:

Peter writes a great column. He's restored several older sports cars, XKE, Porsche, MGB, very cool to see him get into Vettes! :D

:iagree:
Yep,
I was thinking of selling mine but the same "fade to gray" he saw on his wife Barbara's face was the same look I saw on my wife's face.
That was the right story at the right time. I would have kicked myself for a loooooooooooooong time if I had sold my car and then read that story.
Kudos to one of the great automotive (& motorcycle) writers of all time. :auto:

I just happened to read that story on the plane to California to pick up my 89 dark blue convertible. It really reinforced my feelings for wanting a C4 convertible. I had a wonderful drive home through the Rockies with the top down. I certainly get the whole convertible thing now. Great story.

Peter Egan is, hands down, the best automotive writer of our time.
He can put into words, what most of us only feel.
He's also the reason I keep subscribing to to R&T.

Sad thing is the guy didn't learn from the past. Coulda bought a BB stick, driven it all these years and be worth much more than he paid for it if taken care of. 'Corse the point is moot, he wouldn't have kept it long anyway. Guess everyone has different ideas when it comes to cars. :steering:

Re: MUST READ !!! Road & Track - November 2003 Issue (91DRM)
I read the story and I'm thinking this guy is fianally going to pull his head out and he passes on a 70 bb for $3,800?
Then he spends a day with 87 roadster and doesn't buy it?
He likes a 356? Volkswagen? A XKE? Just goes to show that those who write about cars know very little about them.
I have a friend with a 356s. Also a freind with 63 XKE. I wouldn't own either one.
I rarely read the articles in auto mags unless its Hot Rod. Otherwise its *** car illustrated. "This honda/toyota is the best ever in terms of quailty". "It has ten cup holders".
Peter Egan is out there.
