Default How long is your list?

When I bought my car there were 4 things wrong with it. The service ride control light was on, the rear weatherstrip was torn, the power antenna didn't work, and the Bose CD player didn't work.

To date, some 2.8 years later 3 of those things still need to be fixed.

The weather strip doesn't leak, so it's near the bottom of the list. The service ride control light bulb must have burned out, so it's at the bottom of the list, the power antenna is stuck in the up position so I can listen to the radio if I want to. I did replace the CD player.

It's funny that after all this time and thousands of dollars later I've picked up 110 horsepower and the car is a whole lot louder, but the to do list is no shorter. In fact I can add

Repair A/C system
fix floppy sunvisors
replace wiper arms
and I'm sure there are plenty of other little things that I just can't think of right now.

I find it amusing that 3 out of the 4 things that were broken when I bought it are still broken, and the list has grown. How long is your list?

It's not how long your list is--it's how you use it :D

I dropped about $3000 all at once this last spring and about 99% of the stuff I bought I have installed. I think from now on I'm gonna try to do just a couple of things at once because lots of stuff was just sitting around for several months before I could get to it.

If your list is long, use it! Pick up your list and choose which task you'd like to do, THEN JUST DIVE IN!

Check out my web site too to see if I found a better price on the part(s) you're in need of. I put the price, seller contact info, and I rated the part/seller on my site just for you! :D

I also have a lot of how-to guides there w/photos!

I would be glad to, but somebody else would have to fund it.

i would say you deserve plent of credit, 110 horses is quite an accomplishment. I had zero on the list when I bought mine, its still at zero....but I've still done very little in 4 months, see my sig. I hope to get 50 or so horses added in by the Spring. hats off to you Nathan, you know a heckuva lot more about vettes/modding than I probably ever will

Let's see... my list.... hhmmm..

-replace weatherstripping
-replace rear and door carpet
-replace antennae (stuck in the up position)
-get some minor body work done before it turns major
-buy a top removal tool

Those are the major things. 3 of the 5 have been problems since I bought the car. Oh well, it's more fun to do mods to the engine (rather, put in a whole new engine all modded up!)

Everything works on my Vette :yesnod: But my list of " I wants" adds up to more than the Vette is probably worth. Plus, I usually run into problems with the Treasurer of the House, if you get my drift. :skep:

I have minor scratches in the driver's glass and the windshield. They bother me just enough so that maybe next year I will look into having them changed. My corvette is a permanent fixture with me; it will be here as long as I can drive. So I don't mind sticking money into "my baby". My corvette is not my car; it is my avocation, my therapy. I expect that projects will continue indefinitely............ :yesnod:

AC C68 unit head has an electrical bug.
Everything else works.

1 sunvisor needs replacing
Some of the interior trim
Seats
carpeting in rear compartment
shocks, maybe one of the tie rods
impact bar/energy absorber in nose of the car

then a long list of mods

When I bought my 86 Vette 14 months ago: (it had a number of things that I knew I was going to fix, the ones I haven't finished are listed below).

Cruise Control
Blinker needs to be turned off manually
Wipers- A mind of their own
Digital Dash- Blinks on & off sometimes

$14,000 of mods/upgrades, etc, & those problems still exist. I don't use Cruise Control. Hitting the Dig. Dash occationally don't bother me too much, Hardly ever use wipers, & I can stand turning the blinker off on my own. :)

Good topic though. I really should get that stuff fixed....

Lets see:

Antenna doesn't go all the way down sometimes
Slight coolant leak
Engine running a little bit hot
New paint is needed (white car with a black hood= :U )
Car doesn't always immediately start

I'm sure there is a lot more that isn't currently coming to mind...

First off, stop banging the dash. It's very fixable, search on this board for more details. There use to be a great website but it appears to be down. You might be able to Google for "batee" & "corvette" and view the cached pages.
http://www.batee.com/corvette/dcrg/index.shtml

But I think a lot of the info is here too. Don't be afraid of digging into the dash, I did it many, many times trying to resolve that same issue before I found that website. (This one too.)

For me fixing the Cruise Control was even easier. Bad vacuum hose, the rubber had just gone bad.

As for me, my list wasn't too long but I knew it was going to grow exponentially in the next couple months so I let the car go. Not to worry, there is a yellow convertible in my future.

1.) New Door Carpets (I have a gaping square area, since I changed out the blowse and put in nice 6½'s)
= $50
2.) New GM Instrument Bezel/Center Bezel/Shifter Console (All mine are TOTALLY sunfaded and crappy looking.)
= $300
3.) Completely new brakes (The rotors are the ORIGINAL ones, and they've been turned SIX  times. I need Rotors and pads.)
= $500
4.) New 275/40 17 Tires (The ones I have on their are good, but prolly sometime after 04, I'll have to buy new ones. 1/1/04, they'll be 3 years old.)
= $700
5.) New Valve Guide Seals (Puff of smoke on startup sometimes.) But I wanna upgrade to New Valve Covers (the ProForm Black ones) and also put on new springs and 1.6:1 Roller Rockers.
= $600
That's in about the order my list is in also...but as for little stuff that's simple and easy...
-Spark Plugs
-PCV Valve
-Fuel Filter

It just keeps changing :D
When we bought the car it was:
Wheels (bad curb rash) replaced with 90 ZR1 wheels
Sill Covers (had a hole in the speaker cover) won an auction for 94 interior
Seats (drivers seat was worn) replaced with black seats from 94
Paint previous owner used to slide the targa off it was too heavy for her) done
Stereo didn't work (replaced with JVC from the car I sold)
Door Weatherstrip (have it sitting in a box just need to put it on)

Now the CD Changer died so I need to change that, and since I have to take so much apart to do it right I'll replace the Blose speaker too.

I was just thinking a couple of months ago that I'm almost finished and need a new project...HA!

Oh I forgot my power antenna has alway been stuck and has never seen daylight since I bought the car 4 years ago. But it still picks up the stations I want to listen too so it never was fixed.
