I sold my Vette & I'm gonna be sick!
I recently sold a pampered 93 Coupe to someone down the street from me. It only had 46,000 miles on it. I miss the car & thought it would be neat to see it every once in a while. Boy was I wrong. He drives it rain or shine everyday. His son hit it in the driveway with his bike, it's dirty, it's not being cared for at all. My wife thinks I'm sick for even worrying about it. Do I need profesional help?

 :cry Why'd you go and sell your baby!?!??? Why'd you spend years pampering it for the guy down the street??
Sorry, I'm sure you had reasons. It's just a shame... :(

I remember when Iwas kid, about 10 yo, I got my first and only Gokart. It was an old retired racing Gokart, had a new 5hp Tecumseh Racing Engine, nice chrome bars, Clean as a whistle. I never ran it hard, always kept the oil changed, washed after I used it. Heck, I even polished te chrome as best I could. The thing purred, never smoked, or burned a drop of oil!
I sold it because I needed the money when I was 15. To the neighbor kid none the less. He never took care of any of his things, Ishould have known better!
His dad bought it for him. He pulled the governer, and spray painted the chrom, and Glossy Sun yellow paint CAMOFLAUGE Colors... One day he was going up the road, full throttle then over the hill at the end of our street... I heard the whole thing. Missed the brake pedal, over an embankemnt, which bent the frame. Then landed sideways on its side. The engine miraculously kept running, lack of oil to the crank seized it up almost instantly!
I walked down to the end of the road, he was fine and walking around. The kart....uggh, it was pitiful!
His dad hauled it to the dumo the next day.... :mad  :steering: :U
All the work into keeping the kart perfect...
Man, it was on a much smaller scale, but I know where your coming from...

Tough situation. I know what you are feeling. I sold my Red Mustang GT to a guy locally. he had similar plans that I did for the car, some show, some racing. when i saw it a month after he bought it, it still looked good(not as good as I kept it) and it was fast as hell. not too long ago, I heard that guy sold it..and I saw it at the track. :U one seat, no interior, dents everywhere...the poor thing was mint.
all in all, you got the $ for the sale...and it's beyond your control how others treat what was once yours.

I know how you feel. I bought an old '46 Harley when I was 15 (1967) and spent the next 2 years restoring it bit by bit, including a brand new engine (that had been forgotten in a corner of the local Harley dealer), new paint etc. Sold when I was 17 it to pay Univrsity tuition. The guy that bought it wanted a chopper, so took a cutting torch to the fenders, and extended the springer front forks by welding in about a foot an a half of pipe. It was a mess, and he was actually proud of it!
I just told him I never wanted to see him or the bike again. :mad

This is why I haven't sold my GTA yet. I have had NO motivation to sell it because if it gets sold locally, I'm going to be very picky about who I sell it to.
The last time I sold a car was my firebird in college. Keep in mind it was my first car. Anyway, I found a foreign kid that wanted it. On the way to the bank I told him all about how I waxed it. He looked at me all puzzled. He didn't know what wax was. Anyway, he totalled it in 2 weeks. :mad

A couple of years ago I sold a good friend a noice 86 coupe. I just had the car painted & it looked awsome....In 2 weeks he managed to put a bunch of chips on the nose (follows too close) , close the hood with the oil cap & put a crack in the hood & the car was filthy! I wished I never sold him the car. He definetly wasnt taking care of it the way I would! :smash:

I'm afraid so, forget about the car down the street and go buy something else with the money to ease the pain.

It's a material thing, you sold it, get over it . Go get yourself another and show the jerk down the street how to take are of it. I understand your situation, I sold my niece a car once (Sentra) and she dogged it all to hell, I figured, well, I sold it, move on. Remember, the next time you sell a car, sell it in another town or another neighborhood. :flag :steering:

Now I feel really bad that I didn't buy it from you a few months ago! At least you wouldn't have to see it abused every day.
(I don't abuse mine, by the way, but I do drive it in the rain sometimes.)
I would close the front drapes if I were you.

i pass my cars previous owner several times a week.
the cars always spotless.
he put 4k miles on it in 4 yrs of owning it.
i got 3k in in 2 months :)
i think the car likes me better.
shes never lonely anymore, and always ready to go for a ride, and she appreciates me pampering the paint every day. :)
ya know at first it took a while to clean the thing but after a person gets the process down, have the soaps and brushes sitting there, hose ready to go etc,it now only takes me 10 minutes to wash it,rinse it,and dry it.
i guess some people just dont really care about their cars.thats sad to hear someone did that to you
