I am can't remember for sure, but I think they are 8mm. Just be careful prying up the old emblem, you don't want to take the clear coat off with the old adhesive.

I can't remember the size but the bolts are the same size as the one's holding you gas lid emblem on. The trick is not to have them fall off into the hood. Here is what I did to romove them.. I took some chewing gum and stuck it into my socket. Keep the bolt from falling out of the socket.

I put grease in my socket so the nuts would not fall off but then the socket fell off! Luckily I had a flexible magnet to retrieve them!

USE GREASE IN SOCKET !!!!
I think it is a 10 or 8 MM socket, you might think that you can do it without
using grease in the socket, but you will end up dropping the nut into the
hood and it will be lost forever. My front one was not glued on, only the two
nuts. Check my webpage for pics of gold emblems.

Yes, the bigger problem is getting the emblem off without damaging the paint... I soaked mine in goo gone and used intertwined fishing line and thread and a lot of patience to get mine off.

Don't worry too much if you lost one of those bults, they sell them at any auto store.
Unfortunatlly my front emblem was removed the wrong way, some damn punk tried to pry it off with a screw driver, its in the shop right now to the tune of $1600.

noooo,that sux!!
my father-in-law runs cadillacs, has for years.
he finally gave up replacing hood ornaments cuz punks would just rip em off the car for trophys.
he was trying to figure out a way to put voltage to the things to light the buggers up when they grabbed it.
they were good enough to steal the hood ornament without setting off the alarm.
man that just makes me sick to hink of them doing that to your vette.
just remember that carma has a way of exacting revenge on people like that.
insurance cover vandalism?

When we did mine, we taped the emblem to the hood, then took off the bolts and gently pried it up off the hood.
A little 3m general purpose adhesive cleaner took off the old goo...then pop the new one on and tighten the bolts.
