Let the wars begin!
Asking for the best, you are going to get all sorts of responses.
I use the Cobra 9850. I like it. Does almost everything some of the higher priced ones do without the $$.
For 360 on all bands, the only one is the Valentine One. It is rated as one of the best radar detectors built. Price is $399 from Valentine.
Remember, when your radar detector goes off with laser to just pull over. :banghead: . It means you have been nailed. Because the beam is so narrow, you won't get much advanced notice. The laser detection just helps you know when to find a section of the shoulder to pull off on. :D I speak from experience. :lolg: 15 tickets in 16 years. :lolg: All but once with a radar detector. :banghead: What can you do? "Slow down?" Never!

V1 :yesnod: Don't leave home without it.
Of course, I don't see many cops on the roads I drive on.
Yesterday I passed a cop on KA band (he was stopped on the side of the freeway). My V1 didn't loose track of him until .65 miles down the road, and this was around a large bend, so there was no line of sight of any sort.

As far as laser goes. I'm 0 for 1. :(
The laser warning only helps if you get lucky and get reflections off another vehicle. It doesn't scatter as well as radar, so this is less likely.

I've tried 'em all.....there is no replacement for the Valentine ....PERIOD !!!
Yeah I fell for the Passport 8500 add too..returned that sucker after 3 days for a refund. that thing doesn't even mount right. once you get used to the V1 indicator arrows, you wouldn't know how to do without them anymore. Car&Driver would agree.....

Another vote for the Valentine. You did, however, ask which CORDLESS detector is best, and the V1 is not cordless. However, it can be "hard wired" into the wiring of the car and the power cord hidden so that the power cord is not visible or hanging down. I mount my V1 at the top of the windshield and the power cord is hidden inside the molding around the windshield. Also, the power cord unplugs from the detector, making it very easy to remove the detector from the car.

I'd think if you blew past a cop going 120+ mph, and his radar started going beserk, he'd call in the helicopters asap and have a good ol fashion hi speed chase. Jammers are afterall, illegal in every state, and instantly raise a red flag to the cop even if you aren't speeding.

If you pay my magazine enough money, I'll tell lies about your product too. If it in fact does work, I'd be glad to test it in your car with you driving.

Sorry, I didn't mean to come across so stern. I guess it sounded like you believed the product works. Besides, I'm the last person that should be giving out safety advice!

It's a 60 ft long rope swing near campus.
I tried swinging out there with the camera in one hand and almost lost my "boys" on a sharp branch!:cry
I have the scar to prove it!
My buddy Pat carved into the tree "Real men do it naked."
The property owner I guess keeps taking the rope down. Apparently he thinks it's a liability issue?  It's a soft landing anyways... about 30 feet down to the dry rocky canyon full of cactus. Or is that cacti?

In the summer I keep the top as much as I can. I've got a ~$60 cobra
wired up from the mirror. I'ts hard to see; but if someone snags it I wont
loose sleep.
The cobra goes off when there are cops around. My main complaint is it
picks other stuff. Often when it goes off there will be a cell tower that just came into
view.
Are laser jammers illegal? Aren't they infra red? I thought you could "brap ir"
all you wanted.

I dont know if jammers are illegal everywhere, but they are WORTHLESS everywhere. They dont really do a damn bit of good.
IMO, the V1 is the only way to go for a detector.
But I dont need an excuse to speed any more than I already do, so I wont buy one again.
