The D&M motorsports in Glen Ellyn Illinois tried to rip me off a few weeks ago. I was going to purchase a 1996 corvette LT-1 from them. I asked the sales manager to run a carfax report, which he did. He sat behind a desk and ran it for me. I could not see it from where i was sitting, so he read it to me and assured me that the car was clean. Mr. Pushy salesman tried to get me to put a down payment on it that day, but i decided to wait and come back a few days later to buy it. Out of curiousity, I ran the carfax at home myself and to my surprise the car was horrible. It had a flood title, and had been in a major accident. I cannot beleive that the SOB would lie to my face like that. Anyone else deal with these jerks?

I would have INSISTED on reading it right there while he had it on the screen.........run from that dealer and don't look back.........I would file a report and make everyone aware of what happened........as long as your facts are absolute.... :yesnod:

I sent a notice to the BBB. I would hate for anyone to get jacked like that, definately not on a vette.

Does D&M know you busted them on their "interpretation" of the Carfax report? I'd be interested to hear how they explained that...

I didnt bother busting them out, if i went up there to do that I would end up putting his head through that '96 windshield. So, I figure that I would spread the word on the net, since he is part owner, and that would be best.

Don't stop with the BBB. They have no authority to do anything except respond to consumer's requests for information. Report these guys to your Attorney General's Office/Consumer Affairs Division. His falsification of the information consitutes fraud and is against several laws regarding fair sales practices. If he does it to others the AG's Office will pursue the issue, but they need to know this is going on.

I didn't want to get in trouble for slander so I don't ever name the guy on my site. I figured that I was just outta luck and that all I could do was warn others legally like this.

I wonder if the Attorney General's Office/Consumer Affairs Division would do anything in my situation.

BEWARE: I bought my car from them. They sold it to me without a jack!! and the tires were so bad that all 4 were replaced within a month do to them blowing out as I was going down the highway doing the speedlimit.

Correct. They are not owned by the same people. I went in there and asked one day and the guy laughed and said "Everyone seems to think that" It kinda gave me a bad feeling because D&M Corvette have a good rep....it's almost like they were mooching off someone else's good name....ANYWAY, when I went in there the guy was telling me how my '92 was so inferior to a C5 and I should upgrade right away before I have problems.

I laughed and said, well if I had a C3 you'd be trying to talk me into a C4! so what's the difference if you LIKE it!?!?!?

What a schmuck. I'll second the D&M Motorsports BS. Stay away from 'em.

I've got to put my 2 cents in here to help avoid confusion between the two names. D&M Corvette Specialists is located in Downers Grove Ill. I purchased my LT4 from Dave and Mary about 3 years ago after locating it on their web site. During my transaction they ran a class act. After two weeks of phone questions I purchased the car site unseen. Dave picked me up at the airport. When we reached the showroom the car was exactly as described over the phone. No suprises. Please do not get D&M Motorsports and their problems confused with Dave and Mary's operstion.
