93 front air dam/spoiler - MAD vs. Eckler's?
Hey all,
Previous owner/s damage to all 3 pieces of the air dam on the nose of my 93 has me looking at replacement. MAD has p/n: 600-952 at #39.99 for all 3 pieces but the ad says it's a direct replacement for earlier C4's, makes me wonder if I will need to do mods to it to install it on my 93? On the other hand, Eckler's has p/n's: 20099, 20100 and 20101 at $19.99 ea. spec'd for the 91 to 96 C4's, I assume a direct fit here.
My question is, has anyone used the MAD parts I mentioned above on a 91 thru 96 and are they a direct bolt on replacement? I'll drop the extra 20 bucks over at Eckler's if need be to avoid having to modify new parts that aren't correct for my 93.
I admit I haven't checked with GM, I am assuming the cost would be much higher going through the factory. (could be wrong)
Thanks for any feedback you all can provide here.

Not sure about the part # but I bought the ones from MAD ($39). They installed just fine on both my 91's. There are two types of spoilers for C4's. One fits 84-90, the other fits 91-96.

Hiya Fellas...
Okc cruise was too cool to describe! That many top notch vettes in one place...well...words fail me. I'm sure you can picture it. The white c-5 with like a 55 azzend was too cool! That guy has skills!
I bought the MAD part # 601-105 spoiler for the z51 and the mounting hardware kit part #601-113. My 85 has the Z51 option and I was pleased overall with the spoiler kit. It's larger (taller) than the standard spoiler by an inch or better. The overall shape fit the car nicely but that's where the kudos end. The holes were only vaguely in the right places and the center section holes didn't line up well at all. The hardware kit is just a collection of nuts&bolts. They aren't the correct size to match the factory fittings so save your $$. You can do better at the hardware store. So I ended up doing some drilling. Not a problem for me but not what I was hoping for...you usually get what you pay for and this was no exception. Install took much longer than it should have and required some "re-engineering". Gotta say though that having a complete spoiler aids engine cooling tremendously!

The previous owner of my vette installed a one piece air dam...it is solid as a rock !....I've scraped it quite a few times and it ain't moving....he told me he got tired of replacing the flimsy 3 piece OEM style pieces...I don't know where he got it but he did say it was a bit pricey, whatever that means...good luck

I'm also not sure about the part number, but I just received and installed the three piece one from MAD back in May. No problems.

Re: 93 front air dam/spoiler - MAD vs. Eckler's? (Oldman)
Thanks for the feedback guys, I appreciate it much. :D
Oldman, thank you for providing the details from the Ecklers catalog. The new lower price is just the ticket I was looking for on a 3 pc. kit for the 91 thru 96 C4's. And RIC96, thanks for confirming it's a direct bolt-on.
From the looks of things there are a number of variations to this part. 84 thru 90, 91 thru 96 and Z51 or Z52, and maybe more. You guys have said that the MAD 3 pc. kit bolts right on to any C4 so I assume it was made somewhat "universal" in nature. Now that the cost is the same I'll go ahead and buy the one from Eckler's just based on it being spec'd for my year. It may be the same thing MAD sell's so the point may be moot. Guess I'd have to buy both to find out.
oldace84, the ducted air dam is a great idea and a great price if it is needed but I doubt my driver will see heavy enough extended braking to get any use from the ducts. Maybe, someday, I'll find myself hot-lapping at Laguna Seca (yea, right) and I'll be sorry I didn't get this but then I suppose my stock braking system wouldn't last long under those conditions in any case. ;)
 to all my C4 Corvette friends for the responses. Proof once again this is the place to be. I feel the need to :steering: now!
Thanks again, Al :seeya

I replaced mine ('93) with the 3-piece from MAD. Part #600-952 is a perfect fit. In fact, their catalog says that this part # is for 1991-96.

If MAD/Ecklers are selling GM parts, check with our forum hookup first... Chris May at Superior Chevy. He will most likely be a lot cheaper.
If they are selling reproductions, then I don't know.

I got this from Jeff a while back asking about my 87 stock suspension
"Hello!
Do you know if you have Z51 or not? The Z51 spoilers are $18.49 each (ctr,
lh, or rh) and the non-Z51 spoilers are $17.46 each. Thanks! -Jeff

i got myself the M-1 PROWLER FRONT SPOILER from ecklers. it cost me $201 all said and done and installation on my '93 ruby only took about 5 minutes. the spoiler looks great and and is a heavy duty flexible ployurethane. i also had a garbage screen attached to keep the radiator clean. it looks very aggressive and it's better looking that the crappy 3-piece.
ecklers part # 28775 $179 plus sh+hand
