I have thought about painting the top but didn't know if the paint would stick.

I might paint my yellow top and b-pillars black after I get the windows tinted. :)
Anyone have this combo or a photoshop version ?

I've thought about painting my roof pillar black, but never followed through with it. On the right car I think it would look pretty cool :yesnod:

I have a 2 tone bronze vette. Lite over dark. The top is tinted dark bronze, and the pillar is black. It came this way, so I can't take credit. However, I do plan on painting the top, it'll stick somehow, if it doesn't look good when the car is green. If it still gives the "black" look, I'll repaint the pillar black again. Gives it that "vert" look. Sorry, I'm not high tech enough to give you pictures. I bought one of those metal car models like mine to test different looks and I like it.
Hey, atotalnincompoop, I love that name! :seeya

I had my top re-painted a few months ago due to a non-repairable scratch...looks really great but took my time to find a shop that deals with corvettes on a regular basis.

Just painted my acrylic top with 2-stage polo-green. It's not that hard and is much cheaper than a rebuild(cost me a c-note). Just wash and degrease, sand it out with 400 grit, degrease and then spray on a coat of polyester primer (Z-chrome). This will hide and prevent sand-scratch swelling. Next lay on two coats of base, dries in thirty. Top it off with 3 coats of polyurethane clear. Next day, wet sand with 2000 grit and a foam block (use dawn dish soap and water to lube and clean). Buff it out in two stages, first with 3M compound and final with 3M finesse it. Looks super-d-duper.
Here's a tip. Plastic will store a helluva lotta static when sanded or rubbed. After sanding, or scotch-brite, allow the panel to sit protected overnight to disipate the static. Otherwise you'll have a ton of crap in your surface coat.

Of course my pillar is black and with the dark top and window tint it gives it a low look, especially under the lights at night.
If I had a metal top it would be black too.

I like the look on the '88 Anniv. without tint. As soon as tint is added it looses it's appeal to me. Too much black up top. You need some body color to break it up imo. It's a diffent story with a black car though, obviously.
