How does a seat go so bad?? My seats are 17 years old and like like 5. They must have used cheaper leather in the newer C4's. OUCH !!!! Good Luck with the resto !!

Re: Before pics of my vette.
Dang! That by far is the worst 1988 I have ever seen - Glad it has fallen into good hands
I love the 35th cars and am looking forward to seeing the after pics :flag
BTW-what was that cars purchase price?? I am guessing it would have been ok, for about 3500-4grand  once done, I hope you plan to keep it (for your efforts and all)

Hope you will be able to enjoy this car when complete, if it actually gets there and not turn into a huge money pit. Does it need paint also? you got your work cut out for you....good luck!! I DO enjoy fixing cars like that as long as a guy has the budget to do it right!

To answer everyones questions, I bought the car from my brother who bought it from guys collection in Phoenix. He paid about 25000 for the car in I think 91 or 2. I have the sales slip but I'm answering this from memory. The car was absolutely immaculate. I fell in love with it the first time I saw it. He used the car as a daily driver for about 8 or 9 years. Through this time he never really kept up with needed maintenance other than keeping it running, he was going through some rough financial times. Anyway the car starts giving him big problems so he parks it. Mind you it spent roughly 8 or 9 years in the phoenix sun 24,7, then it gets parked in Ft Lauderdale for a couple of years. He buys a new 00 and I talk him out of the 88. We agree on a price of 4000, ;and he tells me if there is too much major wrong with it he will deduct what I think is fair off the price. With 2 little kids I wanted a project that I could pay cash for. I pay him 2700 for starters and its mine. He had already had the tranny rebuilt, repainted 2 years ago, new headlight motors, new compressor, and rear tires. I had a buddy trailer it up from Fla to Ohio. The car is a visual mess. Leather is gone carpet is marginal, but on the bright side paint is good, dash is perfect all pieces are there and the only thing not working is the cruise control. A new battery and water pump and I've been driving it. I tell him about the repairs plus 2 new tires, shocks, ecm, and he calls it even for the money already paid. I'm doing all the work myself, cause I think its fun..... and saves me a boatload of money, so I figure after I am done I'll have 8 or 9 grand in it. Its never going to be a perfect museum piece but thats not what I wanted, I wanted a driver to have fun with that I didnt owe a mint on.. Dont get me wrong it'll look damn nice when I am done with it, and I just love the look of the 35th's. Anyhow its a keeper.

I've started with a lot less. At least the body looks good! (I hate body work)
Good luck with it. It'll be sweet when done!

New Seats w/ foam+new door panels+new carpet+a full day to give some TLC and you will be good to go....how's the exterior??? The 35th always turns heads.....keep mindful that you have a great and rare vette.....they are ALL money pits, just do yourself a favor and ENJOY the $$ you put into it! :steering:
