How do you guys clean up the wheel wells?
I have seen some of you guys with some really nice wheel wells. How do you get them looking so good? What do you use to clean and polish everything up so nice?

I read on here one time where someone said they used spray on tire foam to clean the wheel wells.

Lemon Pledge on everything (control arms, etc)? Or just the black plastic itself?
The tire foam would probably work, but I find that dirt sticks to whatever it is used on like crazy afterwards.

Lemon Pledge, tire foam, mothers back to black, tire gel, etc... will all make the plastic look very nice. The shocks and control arms can be cleaned with degreaser, and then polish the aluminum with your favorite aluminum polish. You'll need sunglasses  :yesnod:

First I put on my grungiest garage monkey clothes. Then I scrub the buggers with lots of hot soapy water and a brush w/ a handle (the kind you'd find in the grocery store for cleaning pots & pans). :D It'll splatter a mess everywhere, but it's the only way to get the built up (I'm taking 10 year buildup of grime!) stuff off.... Then once it's clean, it's much easier to mantain:
:iagree:
Simple Green then pledge.

I agree with the Lemon Pledge bunch for all the underhood, interior plastic and wheel wells. Can't beat it.

I just removed the rear wheel houses the other day. I scrubbed them down top and bottom with Simple green and a scrub brush. I then coated them well with a tire shine product. Looks good. Front can do the same.
Also if you opt to remove the rear wheel houses you can clean the chassis and body underparts easier too. I also used a Dremel tool and fine wire wheel to polish each of the stainless steel torx head fasteners that hold the wheelhouses to the body. Nice finishing touch.

My initial clean-up of this area (shortly after I bought the car 2 1/2 years ago) involved removing all 4 wheels from the car so that I could reach the suspension, undercarriage wheel wells, etc. with ease. As far as upkeep of the wheel wells go now, I simply wipe them down after every ride, and apply an inexpensive protectant (such as Eagle One) to them to keep them crisp looking. Can't see wasting the 303 on the wheel wells.
Once you get them clean, the key is to routinely maintain. The appearance of the wheel wells can either make or break an otherwise great looking car. :yesnod:

My uncle who has owned and worked in a Body shop and has down the show car thing for over 40 years now has always told me that the wheels and wheel wells make up at least 25% of the visual impact of the car on profile and as much attention needs to be taken there as you would on polishing and buffing your hood or fenders.

Re: How do you guys clean up the wheel wells? (DF)
After I was the car I use the soapy water and get as much of the wheel wells as I can reach. Every so often I pull the wheels and clean them really good as well as the inside of the wheel itself. My car is a daily driver so it does get dirty but they really don't get that bad in there. I wash my car at least once a week so I keep up on it I have been know to wash it several days in one week if it gets dirty. 303 or I prefer the cheaper stuff in the wheel wells at the shows.

Lemon Fresh Pledge
You folks using Armor All and Tire Gel...maybe if the car is parked...but that stuff attracts and lets dust and dirt stick to the wheel wells easier...
