New To The C4 Family!! (long)
Up until last weekend I have owned a '72 Mille Miglia Red coupe w/ LS5 and 4 speed. Roughly 1 1/2 months ago I read a post on the "C3s For Sale/Wanted" forum from a gentleman that was looking to trade his C3 for a C4. One of the replies was from SILVRTOY. After reading that post and doing a little "research", I determined that SILVRTOY had a 1996 LT4 Collector Edition w/ gray interior. His LT4 had some interesting modifications (see sig below). At that time I had been half-heartidly (not sure if this is a word??) considering selling my '72 and buying an early C5, but the thought of a LT4 CE was rather intriguing!! So, I contacted SILVRTOY and found out that he was really interested in finding a chrome bumpered C3 w/ a Big Block. Well, to make a long story a little shorter, we talked (e-mail and phone) for about a month and a half and determined that we wanted each other's Corvette!!
My Corvette Club (Race City Corvettes - Charlotte) was scheduled to show our Vettes at the Charlotte AutoFair at the Lowes Motor Speedway last weekend. I invited SILVRTOY to bring his '96 and enter it with our club and if we both liked each other's Vette, then we would make the trade at the show where they had a facility set up to handle the transaction. Well...that is exactly how it transpired!! On Saturday we signed over titles and on Sunday SILVRTOY drove the '72 back to Jacksonville, NC, and I drove the '96 LT4 CE home!
I have had to open the door to the garage a couple of times to make sure that this wasn't all a weird dream, but it really happened. I will definitely miss the '72! However, the '96 will make a GREAT replacement "TOY"!! Man is she fast!!
Here are a few pictures from the AutoFair. The first three are of the '72 and the '96 sitting nect to each other on Sunday. The last two are when SILVRTOY drove her away. There were no tears....I just had something in my eye!!

I was soo touching.... the silver CE glinting in the sunlight, the C3 gleaming like a jewel, QikStik blubbering like a little girl....
Ahhh.... good times... :lolg: :lolg: :lolg:
It was great meeting SilvrToy and you sure got a great car..... though I have to admit it was hard for me watching that awesome BB Chrome bumper driving away.... I can't imagine what it was like for you.
On the plus side, now you can keep up with the rest of us

A straight up trade of two very nice corvettes  , and very
I've always admired the 96 LT4 CE but the chrome bumper shark may be more valuable in the future  I think you got the better end of the deal with a powerful, more technologically advanced engine, and a special collectors edition to boot  welcome to the C4 section!
Just out of curiosity, how many miles did each car have?

Nah, he took it pretty well.... He was, however, totally manic/depressive that day.
"Do I feel sad because the BB is gone or am I totally stoked about my first run from the cops in the CE? I'm so conflicted!"

Thanks for the welcomes and the congrats!
I can't wait to get her out and "Stretch Her Legs" a little!! :steering:
One final word: SILVRTOY is a class act. It was definitely a pleasure doing business with him. I am sure that he will be looking to change his alias soon (MILLEMIGLIAREDTOY won't work though!! ), but if you ever have a chance to do business with him in the future, rest assured that he will be honest and fair!! Thanks Bill!!!

That's a great story. I'm sure everyone will be happy. These cars are soo great , I wish I could own 10 of them but sometimes you have to make tough decisions. Guy

Great story. I know you will always have fond memories of the Big Block. On the plus side, your road trips will be a whole lot more comfortable and much less expensive gas-wise. Enjoy :blueangel: :steering: :steering: :steering:
