1985 Split-window coupe Corvette, really, now with pics
Howdy! New member of 2 days. You folks are great!!!! :hurray: My April issue of Vette mag started a search that brought me here. In this this mag a guy has a "simulated split window" from Royer Automotive Concepts and Engineering. Anyone ever hear of this place or where to get one of these? I hope this isn't a repeat question. I've been searching your stuff for 2 days, and didn't see it. You folks are a lot nicer than the ones I've met at the shows! :yesnod: Thanks for letting me be a part of it all!! :seeya
update: I uploaded a few pics.

One of the larger vendors, Corvette America, I believe, puts out a clearance paper once a year. Three or four years ago they had this piece listed. I think it was just a thin fiberglass piece that mounted to the hatch glass with some type of adhesive. It didn't look too bad but was obviously fake. It may have been Corvette Central instead but I'm pretty sure it was one of those two.
Hope that helps.

Not to flame you really but IMHO (in my humble opinion) the one C4 I saw with this mod looked wierd.

Welcome to the Forum! Its a great place to meet fellow vette addicts and is undoubtably the best place online for corvette knowledge. But to be perfectly honest body mods like that are sorta frowned on by a lot of people in here. Good luck but expect a lot of :U comments from people. Dont forget to :seeya

I have not seen this on a C4, but the C5 has it as part of a full body conversion. I kinda liked the look on the C5, a bit retro, but I think it worked because the rest of the body had been changed. Not sure how it would look on a C4 though. Anyone got a picture of this?

I have seen it. It is just some piece that mounts to the inside of the rear hatch/window to make it look like a split window coupe.
It is not for me!!!!

Howdy! It's me again! You didn't think I was going to buy one did you? Sorry folks, I'm new at this. I own an 85 and a 77 vette. I like the way the General made them. The only body mod I'm considering is the Pro rise hood deal on the 85. Jury is still out. You see, I have this friend  who is into wild mods. You'd have to know him. He uses zipties and ductape(Hence my name) on the OUTSIDE of his 84. :U Long time friend before he got his vette. Love him like a brother :boxing But me get one?! :lolg: :lolg: You folks are great! Thanks again! - David

I've seen a few custom "split window" jobs done on C3s and C5s...and IMHO...they didn't look that good.
But WELCOME to the forum!!! :seeya

I've got that issue at home. I think you can probably achieve the same effect with a cheap vinal decal. It probably wouldn't look any worse either. :leaving:

I don't think I'd do it, but I'd like to see a pic
Haven't ever heard of this mod, but I'd like to see what it looks like. I hear it looks bad, and it probably does, but my curiosity is aroused.

I added some pics at the top of the page! The white vette started the discussion. The yellow one is a concept C5 kit. You give them your C5 and 18 G's, I think , and it's yours! What do ya think?

The body kit is a little much for me. err.. wayy too much. In fact, it looks like they copied the Hyundai Tiburon.
As far as the split window, I don't think it looks bad at all. I wouldn't put it on my vette though. The split window on that kit car looks better because its thinner.
