Would you trade in a 95 conv auto for a 90 ZR-1 given the opportunity? Just a hypothetical question. would like to know what everyone else would do! :yesnod:

I'll have to take the opposite stance. If you know your car and it is in nice shape and been good toyou i would keep it. Personally (and i KNOW i will be flamed to no end for this) i don't think a 90 ZR-1 is all that great. I don't mean this in a bad way all i mean is that the 95 vert is a nicer overall car. Yes it is not a "special" corvette and yes it does not have the LT-5 but what do you want the car for. I have come to the conclusion that the 90 ZR-1 is never going to be a particulary sought after model. There was a decent number made i think the 93-95 may be a different story. I think the only reaosn for having a ZR-1 is to have a nice piece of corvette history which i a good thing but if i could only have one vette between the two i would take a 95 vert. It is a refined C4, looks great and with a little work could have the same or better performance than the Z. Again i know i'll get flamed and i am not trying to offend anyone but simply having a DOHC V-8 under the hood doesnt do a whole lot for me ( and yes i know there are other differences too, i just consider them minor). Would i get a Z if i could keep my vert hell yes i think it would be cool to have a piece of that corvette history (although i am not big on the 90 model i'd like a 91 or up for the wrap aound front end). Would i trade in a nice 95 vert for it no. The later C4 roadters are some of the nicest looking corvettes ever made (of course i may be biased:) and their performance is nothing to laugh at either. This is JMHO, the Z is very cool but i think overhyped. Let the flaming begin

I sold my 93 40th Vert. (Ruby Red) and bought a 93 ZR-1. With that said, I would not of sold a 95 Vert for a 90 ZR-1. Now if it was for a 93 or newer ZR-1 then I would do that. And the reason for me is that in 93 all the option came on the ZR-1 that are on the 95 LT1/Lt4 and also the 93-95 have the 405 hp motor in them. But thats just me. :D

robertpel9 - very well put. No flames from me, although I totally disagree with you. But that's what makes this world go around. If we all liked the same things this world would be a pretty boring place.

I've got a 94 vert with 29k miles and I wouldn't trade it for a 90 Z. As has been mentioned, a 93 or up Z would be a different story.
For me, vettes are meant to be verts with a hard top for late fall and early spring.
The 90 Z, while a nice car, just isn't special enough to make it a must have before a later vert.

Depends on the condition of both cars. If the 90 is cleaner than yours, I would definitely give it some consideration. Do you have more details on mileage, color, etc?

WOW, i am shocked that people have not jumped down my throat already (although i am sure it is coming). I have to agree with others and myself when it is said that Corvettes are meant to be roadsters. After owning a C4 coupe and then my current Vert iu could never go back no matter the model. It is just a completely different car. When that top is down (and the targa is no where near the same although still a nice feature) life is great. It looks great, feels great and with a nice aftermarket exhaust sounds great. Who could ask for anything more?

And I agree with you, all vettes should be verts, hey - maybe Caravaggio will convert my Z to a vert!! Ah yes, the best of both worlds!!

Actually i have driven ZR-1's. I thought it was nice i like the sound of the engine hummiing along at high RPM's and there is no denying it pulled a lot longer and a little harder but it just didn't do it for me. Different storkes as they say. I'll take the feeling of having the top down over that any day of the week. And yes i agree with you a ZR-1 Vert would be the best of both worlds. If i could find a 93-95 vert (they don't exist) i would have a different opinion. As it is i stand behind my initial statement. The 95 vert in identical condition would be much more desireable to me than a 90 ZR-1. Just my thoughts.

I would trade for the ZR-1, while I like the convertible their something about the ZR-1 uniquiness.
My 0.02 about a few issue discussed above-
-As uncollectibility of Zr1, its probably the 2nd least desirable year because of the old body style, but its still collectable and in the long run be worth more a regular 95.
-As for the 375 hp vs 405hp, the 90 ZR1 are amlost as fast as the 93-95's, because of the weigh that the c4 gain (nwer body style, interior, and ASR)
-I personally like the 93 and prior seat over the 94-96 seats.

Hurricane,
the 90 Z is Dark red metalic, with grey interior.27,000 miles...My car is black on grey with 40,000miles with side pipes. Don't think I would do it either but maybe if it were 93 and up like most of you guys said.

No not the 90 for your newer model. If it was one of the newer ZR! models maybedepending on condition of the ZR1.

Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion. 3044 1990 ZR-1's were built and few than that survive today. How many C4 'verts were made in 1995?
Having owned both cars,a 95 'vert just can't compare to a similar 90 ZR-1,IMO,except the fun factor with the top down. I buy Corvettes for the performance. If I want wind in my face,I'll ride my motorcycle. :D
