Headlight Blew Off
So as the title says, woke up this morning and looked out the window. One of my headlights was missing.
seems wind last night blew it off. Thankfully there’s a house there and it couldn’t take flight and go airborne.
Looks like it’s glued glued onto a plastic part. But I’ve got no idea what adhesive is used.
so best way to get old adhesive off? Best new adhesive to use?
thanks

The OP isn't the first fellow to have this happen and in the past it was suggested to use an SMC adhesive and that sounds appropriate. I believe that each incident could be very different because of how the original was bonded to the frame. To preserve the proper gaps to the hood a person needs to of course duplicate the placement. Here's an older thread that mentions the SMC adhesive but there's maybe some better product out there now. It ain't a wintertime project.

Here's an eBay link to a white one. Could the OP post up his 'just the lid'? probably!

I'd be curious to see what blew off the car. If i remember correctly, the headlight covers on my Corvettes have small screws that hold them to the assemblies. I would think it would have to be some strong wind to take them. Crazier things have happened though.

Look at the eBay link and you can see that the lid and the part that attaches them to the H/L assembly are 2 distinctly different fabrications.

No, I have 25th and 35th anniversary :> it is a c4
been busy past few days, needed to get work all done so I’m good for pto next week.
its the headlight cover that blew off.
Car pic came out like trash but its cold and windy out so im not going back out :>
first step would be getting rid of old adhesive so i can use whatever that smc stuff is I take it?
everything looks fine and clean under where it was sitting, quite sure no damage.
im lucky neighbors house was there so it couldn’t blow away entirely.

If it's a very clean 35th I might want to attempt the bonding operation, particularly if there's no damage to the painted finish. White is a difficult match.
