Default New Owner…. HVAC issue

Evening All,

96 LT4 with 28,000 miles.

Issue:
Vents are stuck on the defrost vents and maybe the feet(slight airflow). The HVAC control head is the C68 style and all of the button functions work. Meaning the indicators lights change with button selection but airflow from the vents don’t change. How do I know if the problem is the the blend door actuator, in the passenger door well, or the HVAC programmer in the drivers foot well.

I’ll leave this as a first question, I have many more but this one do for now. To be honest, I will rate my mechanical ability as a 4 out of 10. Feel free to treat me like a kindergartner, I don’t mind.

Thanks

Known issue for 96. Vent tubes were changed to rubber instead of being plastic on the manifold like earlier versions.

Here is a thread.

Check the vacuum T under the passenger injector cover near the rear of the intake. There are 2 ports, one for the fuel pressure regulator, 2 off the T going to the harness. They are plastic and break easily.

Chump,
‘Thanks for the thread link. There was so much info that I think I can try this myself.

FWIW, I have an LT4 with 14k miles and have the same issue. The Programmer, even used, is quite pricey. I like the suggestion of inserting some small brass tubing into those rubber nipples. For now, I just live with it, I drive the car in fair weather only anyway.

I wonder if there is a 3D Printed solution. Be another interesting idea to explore. On a different thread, someone used medical syringes inserted into the nipples (Cut to size).
