Looking to add another custom possibility here...could a C5 heads up display unit work in a C4? Anyone done it or know someone that has?

I havent heard of this being done myself but would love to see if its possible. That being said the thought of cutting a hole in my dash gives me the *******.... :blueangel:

I wouldn't know how difficult it would be to adapt the HUD system from a C5 to a C4's system. Sounds like it would be way more work than it's worth. It'd be really cool if someone found a way to do it though.

I was just thinking of this the other day, when I saw my radio lights reflecting off the back window in my work truck. It would add some cool to the car. I would also want my radar detector up there. What would be best, is some sort of universal board, with digits on it, that could be programmed for the varying voltages from the dash harness, and plug inline with it. Heck, it would be even better some auxiliary connections for other stuff, like a stereo or radar if someone had the know-how to tear apart that stuff. And, if it were say really flat, and not obstructive, and you just kinda fixed it to your dash, it could be used by other makes too. Where's all the fresh EE graduates when you need em?

in the lingenfelter catalogue there is a universal HUD display. YOu could probably fluch that into the dash and the wiring sohuld be simple.

I was over in the C5 tech forum the other day and read some posts where the non HUD C-5 guys are installing them by making cuts Etc in their dashes. I'd say the knowledge base on the HUD stuff would be over there in the C5 Tech Section , check it out & let us know what happens, that would be a cool mod if you could make a clean install out of it, and it looks like you've got that covered.. :cheers:

There is after market huds around which are probably easier to install than a C5 specific ones. Do a internet search and I am sure you find one.

Not fresh.........veteran/professor! Would be a cool mod to make work. I can look into it, but I'm sure people would want to pay for it. :nonod: Then the issue becomes "what SHOULD vs COULD be displayed up there.

Thanks for the responses. I am looking to eventually open a custom vettes shop but I want to be able to offer a few things noone else does. With the responses I think I will definetly check into this. After driving my C5 for a while then jumping into my C4 I really missed it. Thanks again for the responses!

I think superimposing a tach bar and speedo would be sufficient, the tach digits are impossible to read anyway, so we don't need those.

Now if the projector for the HUD could be a slimline unit maybe a half inch thick just velcro mounted on the top of the dash....

I think this is the company that makes it. I love the idea but check the instuctions I don't like the way it cuts into the harness I'n you move it to a different car.
