Best factory service manual for a new c4 Owner
Question is what is the best FSM for a new C4 owner.
I just got my hands on a 1996 LT4 in Competition Yellow with black interior and 10431 miles.
Thanks.

The 2-volume GM manual specifically for the 1996 would be the best, IMHO. They are available on eBay most of the time and in the classifieds here from time to time.

That's a very special buy! Less than 11K miles - Interesting!!
That might be an interesting car to do a 'CompNine Rarity' check. It would likely cost you maybe 15$ but with a 'low-mile' & yellow to boot I'd likely do it if mine. It will take a couple clicks to get to the 'RARITY' explanations but here's
https://www.compnine.com/vid.php
*** The poster in #4 might be interested in the 'RARITY' check also!

Hi - congratulations! Did this car come from D&M Motorsports? I think the original owner of that car was advertising it on Facebook sometime last year - his name was Dennis. In any case, that must be a beautiful car! Would love to see pictures.
Here's an Ebay search - you want the red Helms manuals. Nice ones aren't cheap. Quick look on this forum and it doesn't appear anyone is selling a set currently.

I'm a bit partial to yellow. I've owned mine for almost 21 years, and it has 17k miles on it. I will never part with it. Enjoy!

Mike - She is a beauty! Mine looks pretty much the same. Yes, it was Dave's corvette. I Facebook stocked him after my purchase from D&M and he very kindly replied and told me the whole story on the history of the car. Dave even sent me copies of the original window sticker and factory build sheet.
I'll work on the rarity thing tonight. I have been able to find that it was one of 144 LT4's produced in 1996...so just that fact makes it pretty rare!

Helm/GM factory manual is the one you need to have. You can get the Haynes/Chiltons and they can be useful for some things, but Helm is the definitive.

There is only one factory service manual, and it's by GM.
It's comprised of two books. Look for GMP/96-Y-1 and GMP/96-Y-2.
Everything else is just a service manual.

Search 1996 production numbers, there is some info, how accurate I'm not sure. I have an Artic White/ Light Beige LT4 coupe.

@jtd4044 Yes! That is a beautiful car! I messaged him briefly about it before he sold it, as well. I just love these cars, especially the yellow ones - little bit of an obsession, I won't lie. I've tracked a number of them over the years. So this is the link I look at for production numbers:
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...n-numbers.html
Then I also have this book, by Robert Casey:
The book notes Z51 production but not F45, whereas the forum link above notes F45. There is a gentleman in several facebook forums who assembled production numbers from compnine.com, as well, but I've found the link and the book to be pretty accurate. The data in the forum link came from a site that was around in ~2000-2001 by a forum member, Rottie (collectoreditionregistry.com), he had some sort of contact with the Corvette plant. He was able to identify mine early on as one of six Z51s, but I never saw a breakdown of the six further than that until I got the book, above, finally noting mine as one of four. I've seen three of the four.
Yellow/Black/LT4/FE1 suspension - as closely as possible, I'm sure there is a slight margin of error:
forum link above:
-103 6-Speed Coupes with Black Interior
-16 6-Speed Coupes with Black Interior and F45 Suspension
from the book:
- 15 yellow/black/LT4/Z51
So 103-31 = 72 yellow/black/LT4/FE1!
My dad had SN 104411 back in '96-'98, it was one of the 72.
Enjoy it!!
